That is why this site is so successful, there is a "LARGE" amount of knowledge here that is totally free for the asking. With 61,000 plus members and if each member had a years worth of knowledge, just do the math. LOL

Another update................... The engine build is complete and time to put everything back together. The finish line is near  . I can't say enough how thankful I am to Sean for taking on this project. To start this in April 2023 and to see how far we have come in a short time is amazing.

The front suspension has been removed and will be cleaned up and blasted this week if all goes well. Since there are barely any miles on the car, bushings and rubber parts will be replaced.

The AMD 4-speed tunnel will fix the shifter area that had been previously cut out by my FIL. This piece will work perfectly and return to stock for the new shifter.

But on this car it only had one bolt on one side so was very compromised in strength.

I see that....for some reason he did not raise the shifter high enough (or something else) to keep the 4th bolt. Naturally this mod was done way before the internet, he surely would have been called out. Likely grinning now about it. :)

Looks very familiar and appears pictured linkage would clear, I guessing different linkage maybe without the bracket was initially installed or attempted to be installed. At this point it can only be speculation and has been remedied but I am always curious about the way these cars evolved.

Thanks,
Denny

just curious....can I see the linkage?

when I have raised the shifter on a few A body builds, I use different linkage, pretty much straight rods for the 1-2 / 3-4 and change the reverse linkage to go over the transmission mount.

Sorry to hijack your the Maxcustody but Denny - what Hurst shifter handle # is that? Is it #0015 per chance? I can't make it out in the pic. Also presuming that's a gear vendors tail housing? Thanks!

probably is #0015, but it is not the one I normally use. I just wanted something on it so I didn't get rusty. I will have to look / verify next time @ the shop.

GV mated to a Passon aluminum case 833. My own (lightened) shifter bracket to move the shifter up and over for the straight rods.

Thanks Denny. It looks purposeful.

Having one of these cars myself I would highly recommend putting the master cylinder on rubber lines so it can be easily flipped out of the way.

Thanks, the old ones were rubber lines. I got these as the kit from inline tube...................... guess I will see how they work.

hard steel lines are a major PIA for removing valve covers.....minor PIA for removing #7 spark plug.
