china wall sealant??

-
I used RTV black but make sure you put it thick (tall) enough.. my first time on this motor i didn't and had to pull the intake and add a row.. i expect a leak

Everything I’ve ever used has leaked, eventually. EXCEPT right stuff. That’s all I use anymore, and it will not leak. It is a little harder to remove the intake once it sets up but it isn’t a chore.

I get one of those simple 99 cent snap off exact-o knife blades and Run it between the China wall and the intake manifold on front and back and the intake Manifold pops right off...

^^ As posted above... Right Stuff & lots of it.. my 360LA...

i'll be the dissenting opinion here: motoseal or some flavor of 3 bond if needed on the quickness and still oily.

permatex used sell a anaerobic sealant that was the mutts nuts, but they probably discontinued because it's absolutely terrible for any life form to be around, and hey, what's that an arm growing out of my back?!!

Hog wash...
No, it's not. We tried it once. Removed all intake bolts on a big block Chevy. I jacked it up off the dolly it was on, on the floor about one inch with the engine hoist. The intake stayed on. The guy had used right stuff on it. I'm glad it works well, but I don't need something that will hold without bolts.

Yup. If you have to use that crap to keep the intake from leaking it would tell me that someone needs to look at how they are doing it.

I use Permatex Ultra Black. Where I messed up a couple times is that front passenger's side, you have to run the bead back and not leave a gap. And like pittsburg said set intake down with side gaskets in place eye up the gap so you know how thick bead should be.

And I don't use the end gaskets just beads of silicone on both front and back walls.

I initially used some Felpro paper-like-looking intake to head port gaskets. Around 9 years later got coolant leak out front port. Pulled intake and used those Felpro head-gasket-material-looking intake gaskets to fix it. Read online others had issues with those paper-looking intake gaskets.

I am with rusty, Right Stuff is over kill for intake. But hey if other ppl prefer by all means have at it.

Exactly. Use what you like and what works, but don't berate others for using something different.

I just want to clarify, I only use the Right Stuff on the china wall, not the whole intake. I believe Rob when he says he couldn’t get the intake off!

This place is getting as bad as Moparts. Three page discussion on a five minute job. What’s next pinion angle and super stock springs

We are gonna go a couple more pages about use Right Stuff, don't Right Stuff, call others opinions hog wash etc. Then we will go off topic start talking lights in the garage or something go a few more pages at which time most of us will move on to some other thread to yap in....

Build something with boost. You’ll find the need to use right stuff on an intake manifold. Especially if you don’t have enough evac in the valve covers.

Oh we got it off. But it hung the entire weight of that big block Chevy by the intake. Valve covers, exhaust manifolds and all.

Yup. S'why I just end up saying "just use what you want".

Thank you for proving it works great....
So you took a razor knife and ran it between the intake manifold and block on both the front and back first??..

Oh we all thought you ran thick beads of Right Stuff all around the intake ports squeezing out into ports when you bolted it down? Thanks for clarifying you didn't do that.
