Huntsville Tx is awesome

My all time favorite is the Whately Diner (after the town with the same name in Western Massachusetts).

Now if you are looking to explore the farthest reaches of your constitution; try the woo pig at Uncle Henry's in Sheridan Arkansas. I just tried one of the best Cuban sandwiches at a place called Havana Cafe in Eugene Oregon. Both are pork with more pork however!
Whatever would you be doing that would take you through Whately? On your way to visit Yankee Candle?

Being from Texas, Whataburger is the go to. Still our fast-food favorite.

If you are in a town near the Austin area, look for a Mighty Fine Hamburgers. Made from scratch, outstanding onion rings and fries, outstanding milkshakes and homemade lemonade.

As for nostalgia, I remember Grif’s Burgers on Fredericksburg Road in San Antonio - 15 cents (bun, meat, mustard and/or mayo). With all the veggies, 25 cents. My mom would get the ones for 15 cents, bring them home, and we added our own veggies.

Dans on Airport RD in Austin is one of the best burgers in the USA.

I’m a UMass grad. Paid for school working at Yankee Candle! (Lots of late night burgers at the Diner then lots of beers at the Hot’l Warren)

I loved Henry's when I was a kid. MacDonald's came in '64, and Henry's was gone shortly after.

Tom Wahl's is a local joint that had one location for 30 years, but has had a handful since the mid '80s. Hand ground, hand formed, made to order. Started as an ice cream stand in 1955. They gave Marky Mark and his brothers permission to use the name Wahlburger, which has been a menu item at Tom Wahl's for decades.

Is that where you're taking me when I pass through next year? Lol

I make 'em at home, and love making Juicy Lucy's, but will grab one on the road. I had In 'n Out in Medford, OR and it was pretty good, way better than any McDonalds crap. Jack in the Box in the middle of California wasn't so good, wish I had seen a Whataburger.

Now I'm hungry.

I can’t believe how many people still say how good Winkys was back in the 60’s and 70’s. In 7th grade around 1969 we had open lunch. You either went to Winkys or chucks pool hall. My parents didn’t allow me in chucks because of the fight rumors. Well I made it one week and off to chucks I went. A great cheeseburger, 1/2 a pizza, and two games of pool. My grades sucked but I had a great year and my pool shooting got a lot better.

We have Fatburger and Five Guys up here, besides the usual. No In And Out, WhatABurger, Freddy's or Carvers. We only recently got a Chick-Fil-A so we are pretty "hick" still.

Personal favorite is Five Guys locally and In And Out when I am traveling. Ate at In And Out twice in Vegas when I was at SEMA last year. I thought the burgers were great, maybe it is just nostalgia from when I was able to eat it in San Diego before they got big and not having them locally. And Five Guys is rare because they are expensive. Lot's of food, but expensive.

No idea if Fatburger is any good, even though I have eaten there once. Must not have hit a cord for me as I don't remember thinking it was anything special.

On a separate note, got to thinking about how different life is now. Even when I was a kid (born in the late 60's) eating out was a special event and drive through's were for when we were traveling, if at all. Seems like now life is mostly drive through's and fast food for most people. I bet most young adults now ate more than 50% of their dinners in the back seat of a car. Not that I did any better with my kids.

I’m a regular at Hamburger King in my hometown. They pre-date “Burger King” by a good many years. They’ll be 100 years old in 3 years. I’ve been going there since at least 4 years old with my grandmother who lived just off Main St. Heck, I might just go there for lunch today!

Advertising pictures are always full of sh%^ because the actual item never matches.

The pics in the first post are my original non sponsored pics so the burgers really are that good at Freddy's.

Hell, I'm old school still. I love a good Burger King Whopper if it's fresh off the broiler.
and im Dutch, i love a good deal
so when i got a coupon in the mail for a "burger king family meal" i couldnt help myself, 3 whoppers, 3 cheeseburgers and 3 fries (i swapped on of the fries out for onion rings, should have swapped two) for 18 bucks

picked that up for dinner last nite, the wife, the boy and me ate about half and guess what im having for lunch now?

Best burger here in S.E. Texas is a little "shack" cafe 15 miles out of a town of about 3000 souls. It been there at least 50 years. Real meat, homemade onion rings and a bottle of catsup sitting right there on the table! They serve real sweet tea too!

I like Freddy's, but the closest Freddy's is an hour drive from me. That leaves Five Guys, Fosters, and Roy Rogers as the burger joint chains of choice in my area.

Dairy Queen is a local go to if im
Out and about. Of the three in the 7 mile radius two are very good. I went through the drive through yesterday and bought two double cheeseburgers burgers and a large French fry for 10.59. I just reheated the second burger and as always it was very good. Now for dessert. Jalapeño cheddar beef sticks. Mmmmmm

Got turned on to Whataburger when I moved to Texas in the early 80s, they recently started moving into Florida we have a brand-new location in St Augustine.

We have no Freddy's up my way, but I'll look for one when I travel. In my world we have Killer Burger, a small local chain. Their Mendoza burger is outstanding. A regional brewpub called McMenamin's has a Captain Neon which is also excellent.

We're getting an In-n-Out about 20 miles away soon. I expect it will be jammed for months once they turn on the lights.

We love McMenamins! We have stayed at most of their hotel/resort locations. They have excellent beer. Ruby was my favorite!

i havent darkened to door of a DQ since they stopped selling the fried mushrooms...that was the best thing they had on the menu

We used to go to Irwindale Raceway for the Nitro match races whenever we got the chance mid 70s. First couple of trips, their concession stand burgers earned themselves a new name amongst us BLACKTOP BURGERS  Next trip we went huntin' for burgers after the nitro fun and found this weird little place on Azusa Blvd called In N Out, it became our go to when in the area. Many years later I found out that Mr. Snyder, founder of In N Out was the part owner of Irwindale and also ran the concessions there .
