Couple cool pics of my Demon

RJ,
First let me say that the work that is being done on your car is first class. I have seen many fabrication jobs on many different platforms ( I spent years fabbing stainless and aluminum in a number of different industries), your work rates up there with the best. No matter how many tries it took, you have come up with a final design that works and looks sharp.
Question: did you buy the tubs pre-fabbed? If so where?
When you tubbed it did you have to put temp bracing in when you took out the cross members at the back seat?
Keep the pics comming Im accumulating them as a reference album:toothy10:

Thanks Andrew

The guy doing a bunch of the work has been involved in a laundry list of top end street rods built by a nationally known shop here on the West coast. I am just glad he likes me :-D

The tubs were not pre-fabbed, made for the car....better fit this way. Did those several years ago, before I had a digital camera. A couple pieces of 1" square tubing to support was used to brace it from side-side. The trunk floor was cut out at the same time.

Putting a 2" strip of metal down the middle of the factory tubs would have been easier. It would still hold a 345mm tire and the trunk hinges wouldnt had to have been modified as much

i wanted to see how you were coming on your ride. looking good! i,like everybody else can't wait to see it done!!

I love seeing cars being documented as they're assembled. Awesome workmanship, especially the welding. Beautiful car.

Please continue to post pictures. We never get sick of pictures....

So basically it would have been easier to "Mini-Tub" - yes.

I have to say I'm following this thread and appreciate what you are doing by sharing (Awesome workmanship) with us. I plan to reference this thread as I begin my project. Now that I've received the full floor from AMD I need to build my rotisserie before I can get going. I say "build" because I'm limited to the size (height/width/length) of my home attached garage.

Great project = drooling.

Most of the hardlines done, getting there....all stainless and some high pressure flex for the power steering. Black fittings as much as possible, except the weld on ones (for obvious reasons). Pulled the motor for access.....details, details, details.

8-5 demon updates 006.JPG

RJ,

Wow I thought the whole batch of pictures you sent me previously were wild and inspiring, but what I have seen on the updates is just inspiring. Maybe once I and all of the other pro-street Demon guys using your car as inspiration can all road race to a central location for some beers and serious drooling.... I am still in the parts gathering stage on my end and looking for a use rotisserie to get started (sold mine a couple years back and have been kicking myself ever since!) Keep up the great work!

wow.. this is awsome.. keep the pictures coming.. i love everything about it.. this is what i dream about doing to my 70 duster.. what size wheels are they??

18x8 and 19x12, 3piece.

The comments/critiques/opinions help keep up the motivation...thanks fellas

Finish it already!!! I get too anxious waiting for the next update!) Great work.. more pics more pics!)

Very inspirational. I'm somewhat surprised that you don't have clearance issues between the engine and steering shaft

The headers tuck pretty tight to the engine, also with the engine back a little it helps. I have better clearance with the one solid stainless shaft now then previously when I had it split w/ another joint

I would have thought you would need a split shaft, all the better if you don't. As much as I'm really looking forward to seeing this finished I'm really lovin watching the build step by step, very cool.

WOW!!! I'm really impressed with your concept and craftmanship. Thanks for posting so many great pictures. Even without paint and incomplete, the details are a joy to behold.

What/Whose steering rack are you using? My experience with the Pinto/Mustang II racks are great if un-assisted, numb with power.

It is going to be interesting to find out how much your car weighs and balances in completed form.

Again great work. Keep the OCD thing going (at least until you finish the car), it seems to be working well for you on this project.

It's an AGR rack, bought from RMS.

A few more detail plumbing pics. I wanted the power steering reservoir to match the overflow....got two matching power reservoirs from Billet spec, and converted one to an overflow tank. Both placed on equal distance and at same height from the radiator.

Finished off the back of the AlterK frame.....matches the front. The little bracket off the Kframe in the second pic was for temporary motor mock-up....because I am still waiting for a Quicktime bell.

Plumbing gets little busy on the driver side w/ the 6.1's since the power steering and AC compressor are on same side, should be pretty clean w/ motor installed

Tig on the hard lines. I bought the drier from vintage air already fabb'd...much easier when it comes in a box already done.

RJ,
your work continues to be first class.
Let me ask about the headers. They look like a custom fabbed set of block huggers, am I seeing correctly? With the Rack set up and the elimination of the normal mopar steering box, do you think I could just use a set of block huggers?
Also do you have any pics of the modification of the AlterK?

For the rest of you Please Take Note:
He's building a race car with air conditioning---What a novel concept!
Rj I appluad you, and I will be doing the same. I cannot concieve of the need to forgo AC in Texas. If the loss of horsepower is that critical I will turn off the AC and roll down the windows and forget about the added 30lbs of weight.

thanks andrew,
Headers were a proto-type/sponsor of sorts from Street & Performance....last I heard they were not offering them. They are huggers, and a perfect fit. I tried TTI's at first and they were not even close to fitting my application......I prefer the block huggers for my car, people talk about power loss, but I'd rather be 10hp less than draggin them on the ground or not being able to turn the wheel.

:toothy10:I wouldn't call it a race car.....maybe a Porsche with a little swagger? restomod? protouring? road racer-esque? poser? pick a label.....whatever, it's unique for sure. I expect it to handle/stop very well

As for the AlterK mods...I'll take a few pics

Mother Frickin Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am an old school/Drag race kind of guy. (ya ya I know you have heard it before, but I am a believer now)

Your vision and quality of work is amazing! Keep up the great work!

RJ, Awsome looking car, My Dart is going to be similar (not quite as radical) but close. Two things, Go to http://www.rodvisions.com/index.htm and talk to John, he does awsome renderings for very small money, he just finished doing a bunch of different color schemes of mine. I also want to use the 4L65E but not sure how to wire it up. are you using a factory computer? no computer and just a switch for OD? any help would be appreciated.
