It's official!

We have received the legal documents dismissing ALL charges filed against Layson's Restorations as a result of the raid and arrests we had to endure at Carlisle in 2008.

This is Dave Layson's press release.....

Layson’s Restorations Exonerated

Charges dropped with prejudice in Pennsylvania

(Lakewood-WA) Layson’s Restorations is pleased to announce the end of a patent and trademark investigation in the state of Pennsylvania. This follows the FBI’s move to drop its case last fall. It is the end of a lengthy legal battle that began at the Chryslers at Carlisle event in July of 2008.

Layson’s can again focus entirely on doing what it does best: Serving our customers and helping them bring their Mopar dreams to life. We would like to express our deepest appreciation to our customers, vendors, business partners and even competitors who encouraged us and provided the moral support to see us through this difficult time.

We want to extend a special thanks to Robert Wolff of Mopar Collectors Guide and Phil Painter – both of whom made the effort to see through the issues and into the truth of the matter. We will always be grateful.

Going forward, we hope these developments when combined with a turnaround in the economy will allow us to recall some of the loyal employees we were forced to lay off and continue our quest to make more parts and improve our processes to better serve our customers who, along with our love of classic cars, motivate us to be the best we can be every day.

Now that we can again turn our attention to the hobby we love, look for an improved website, more product releases and our continued support of our loyal customer base at the major Mopar shows around the country.

In the end, we hope that the legal issues surrounding the manufacture and sale of legal reproduction parts have been resolved once and for all – for the good of the hobby, and those of us investing and working to restore valuable pieces of American automotive history.

We will have a video statement up on our www.youtube.com/gimeaV8 site in the near future, but until then, we’re just thankful this chapter in our company’s history is over and that our customers will continue to have access to high quality and affordable reproduction parts for their restoration projects.

Congrats....as long as Rick is onboard with Laysons...they will be fine!

Aloha

Is he seeking any counter suit for lossed incurred?

I remember asking Rob Wolfe about it at a local car show and I gotta say he was truly working for you guys even on the street.

What a nice guy.

Rick, congratulations to you and the rest of the staff! Glad to see it's over with, and dismissed with prejudice (they can't come back and file it again based on those same charges).

From one FABO vendor to another, here's a toast to continued success and getting back on your feet as soon as possible.

I'm not an attorney but from what I read over on the Moparts board I think dismissed with prejudice means thatthe charges still loom in the background and they can come back at any time to re-open the case.

The least of your worries IMO...It's like pulling teeth trying to give you my hard earned money for some decent products/customer service. Your image is very tainted in the Mopar world. You have quite the opportunity in front of your business, and you fumble miserably.

The inclusion of the term without prejudice in a judgment of dismissal ordinarily indicates the absence of a decision on the merits and leaves the parties free to litigate the matter in a subsequent action

Congrats....as long as Rick is onboard with Laysons...they will be fine!

Ditto! Congrads.

But I'll only purchase from Rick and only Rick.

To hell with your boss.

P.S. Have him read this!

Congrats Rick, now go and sue their asses off for all your bills and the damage to the company,it never seems to end on how many *** holes get to the top of the food chain, and yell wolf, mrmopartech

i refuse to deal with them since they only 1 decent employee

That's right Ted. As the press release indicates ...

Charges dropped with prejudice in Pennsylvania

What surprises me is that Dave put his phone number on the release. I wonder if that means dissatisfied customers can get him on the phone? Myself, if I have to deal with Layson's it'll still only be through Rick.

Sound like Dave has some explaining to do. Or not.:angry7:
Was just checking out the moparts link as well and it sounds like customer service is their middle.....finger :thebirdm:. To bad for Rick that he has to be employed by that. Good luck to you.

LOL, That's why I will deal with Rick and only Rick cause he don't screw around and doesn't screw you. :-D

Congratulations Rick. You obviously enjoy helping fellow enthusiasts but your boss doesn't make it easy for people to feel good about this. I'm glad to see you still have the opportunity to make a living getting parts to guys who don't care where it comes from as long as they can get it.

Speaking of which, my buddy Tom's Dart was chewed up by a truck and we need a taillight assembly. PM sent.

Yep, It's official!!!! I STILL won't do business with them. I have so many other vendors that take care of me with the same parts.

Rick is a stand up guy...his boss .. well I'm sure there have been many discussions on this site about him. I talked to Rick on the phone Thurs.-he said he and Dave are the only 2 employees left! So I guess they only really have 1 employee. I don't know how he does it by himself like that.

Did they get rid of the rude ***** that answers the phone? Rick you seem like a nice guy but your boss is an asshole and he will never see my money again.

I have bought from Laysons in the past and my one experience was positive. That said there are many who did not have the same experience I did. Legal action aside, the real issues are the customer service issues.

If its just Dave and Rick at the company, then they have a unique opputunity to run the company with high standards towards customer service from this point on by hireing new people and training them properly.

10 years ago when I started the EVBC, I told everyone I knew about Laysons Restorations because they were the only company selling and producing parts for the 66 and older A body cars. They even were advertisers on our club site. Now, their name is barely mentioned as a source, only as a "last option" vendor.

Rick, I do sincerly hope you and Dave have heard everyones complaints and have made a committment to reform the company. Laysons Restorations can be a respected company again, but it will take an enormous effort to change a lot of peoples minds.

Congrats on the ruling and Good luck.
