Getting fed up of high-perf , being happy with less

I'm only 71, and my HO 367 is stone-axe reliable, goes 93 in the Eighth. It is now old and tired and rusty as heck, so I don't drive it much anymore. However, I would still not be afraid to drive it anywhere as I have in the past. It was built in 1999, and all bugged out by 2004, and now only...

Getting fed up of high-perf , being happy with less

I bought the car at 50, 15 years ago Originally I wanted strong street/occasional strip mode. Now, Vast majority of cruising, occasional street race mode now I went from a 3.91 giving 4000 rpm At 80 mph Going to a 2.94 at 3000 at 80 Thermoquad for the small primaries Lots of sound/heat...

    D100 rearend in A body

I have seen the 8-3/4 rear in 4x4’s and not in 5x4.5” bolt circle. I forget but it akin to 5x5 or bigger. Plenty of c-body cores for cutting.

Getting fed up of high-perf , being happy with less

Although I don't agree, I totally get what you are saying. I won't even begin to try and add up what I have spent making cars look good or go fast. Doesn't matter to me since I truly enjoyed every minute of it over the many years (I'm 63). I've gone full circle starting with Z28's, 442's and...

Solid lifter initial valve lash adjustment

My engine has a 276/286/110 cam and hydraulic lifters, and was initially set-up at 1/4 turn preload. This quickly proved to be inadequate, as soon after break-in it began to tick. I reset the preload to 1/2 a turn. And so it was quiet for a long time. Eventually, I got the idea that if I ran...

My Magnum is just a plain 5.9 with bolt on parts. No camshaft swap yet but it’ll be a mild one. Minor shift kit in the trans and a low stall, 3.55’s, ready willing and able to drive anywhere. There’s more road noise from the tires than the exhaust. Actually. I don’t hear the exhaust unless I’m...

Does the Holley have a test mode to test injectors and coils? Something to allow you to cycle them individually high/low to confirm your wiring is good before you dig in too much further?

Life is factually fun and enjoyable when we learn where to find our happiness and joy! Has nothing to do with $$ and what sells the most Mecum or BJ, or what the neighbor thinks is cool! We are all cut from different cloth....one guys diamond is another guys turd and vise versa! I enjoy my...

Did the 1979 Lil Red Express come with an air pump?

I found it interesting that the '75-'77 E58 is listed with dual exhaust. I figured the drop in HP/TQ between '74 and '75 was due to having to use a single exhaust and a cat, but I found this post that makes me think they did actually keep the dual exhaust through at least probably '76. Not...

Doug's headers not fitting - frustration

That’s 100% bullshit right there. I’ve been screwing with these cars since 1980 and I’ve never seen one more than a 1/4 inch off. Ever. Go look at the garbage GM and Ford put out. Those were some junk ****. Chevelles that crab walk down the road. Mustangs with engines angled to one side...

I’m sure some of you won’t like this, but this is what I do. The super tech 10,000 mile filters at Walmart are made in the USA. I buy a 3 pack for $10. I get these Mopar stickers in bulk for about .50 cents a piece.

What do you mean by big or small? The only difference that I know of is that either they have pressed wrist pins or floating. 360 rods will work on a 318 with no problem
