Massive caster variance Side to side

Strut rod tuning is needed at times to dial in the caster sweep. I have done hundreds of alignments with a tape measure and a caster/camber gauge (Longacre). We used to take them to the alignment rack and have them double checked to a while. The numbers were always good so we started skipping...

Stop in for a cup of coffee

I don't have a building for a lift and at my age it's too late to start down that road. We should have moved to a acreage years ago and I could have had a shop. It didn't happen so there you have it.

Stop in for a cup of coffee

I made my mind up 24 years ago when I sold my businesses. My garage at the house will have a lift. If I did not have this lift here, I probably would not be doing any of the restoration work that I do on my own cars or helping my people from my church from being taken advantage of. The lift...

It's getting harder for me to climb under a car on jack stands, I'll have to buy a hoist real soon.

Set up just like an automatic tranny. Small filter and pan and wish it was a bigger pan.

Stop in for a cup of coffee

I went out to John's shop to get some of Woody's photos. Long story short, I got a plastic box of information from his 42 Plymouth build. That was cool to look through but not what I wanted. [FOR SALE] - 42 Plymouth P14 Coupe John had his race car on the hoist. Damn, I will give up on the car...

    Nicks Garage 383 build

Just FYI, I'm not a Pontiac enthusiast, and I understood that the 455 you worked on was not the SD version. I'd also point out (not to you, but to some of the others) that a motor will make more power on an engine dyno with no accessories and dyno exhaust than it will make in the car with all...

Last one to post in this thread wins!

After that 1,000 mile trip to Minneapolis to the car show I cleaned the Scamp real good yesterday and changed fluid in the GV overdrive. Put a plastic bag over the air cleaner so I didn't get water in it and sure **** I forgot to take the bag off and started it up and sucked the air cleaner lid...

    Tightness of Seat Belt Bolts?

Seat belts use "shoulder bolts". The belt bracket fits to the shoulder, so the bolt gets tightened all the way and the belt can still pivot. The shoulder length varies, since some points get 2 belts attached to the bolt (center passenger position in the rear, for example). So any bolts you...

    Tightness of Seat Belt Bolts?

No they are not left loose. They each have the appropriate shoulder to allow them to swivel

    mini starter??

I have seen some knock the nose of the starter off, but never seen the body get moved. On my trans there is a large stud that accommodates that larger hole in the starter body. I wonder if some used a regular bolt in that and that lets the starter move.?

Stop in for a cup of coffee

Serviced the Scamp this morning after the trip to MITP. A bit over 1,000 miles total. I change the fluid in the Gear Vendor every 1,000 miles just because it only takes a bit less than a quart and I'm not pushing my luck.

[WANTED] Mopar Performance 727 deep steel pan

There is no drain plug on the factory pan . I installed one on both of mine where I wanted them . I think my exhaust would hit before my pan . Not sure about material differences.

Which Carb kit do I need

Agreed. And that's why I wanted an "actual "body" on the other end of the phone when I ordered the kit for my AFB earlier this week, as I wanted to ask them this very question.

Massive caster variance Side to side

force would be the same, but increasing the cantilever increases the moment in the out of axis direction. 1/4" probably isn't that big of a deal, and there's enough play fore-aft in the t-bar socket for it to be OK. bigger issue is there is only so much room for it to go foreward, and it's not...

How much would you pay for this 340?

Another give away is there isn't a 90* oil filter adapter on it. To me, it looks like something that was cobbled together ans they are try to make a fortune off of their junk parts. Just my two cents worth!

    Tightness of Seat Belt Bolts?

Happy Friday. I was wondering if you bolt the seat belt brackets tightly to the floor, thread points, or if you allow for the bracket to swivel around the bolt. This is for a 4 door, 67 Valiant with Bench Seats and Lap Belts. I see from the Service Manual and Parts Book that ananti-rattle washer...
