Got the car aligned and drove it enough to bed the hawk pads. I'm very happy with the front suspension and brakes. I owe Peter Bergman a tip of the hat for suggesting the Viper Calipers and 11.75 rotor. I have manual steering and brakes and it responds like a different car!
It's a straight forward installation. Make sure the motor mounts are on properly! I made that mistake! It's easy. I can't say enough about Peter Bergman's help! He was my go to guy during the build.
I am completing the rebuild of 1972 Duster 340 4 speed. The car now has an A-855 latest gen 5 speed in front of US Gear lightning rear gears. Many quality upgrades were added such as 11.75 discs with 2nd gen Viper calipers, 16.1 steering manual box, Bilstein shocks, QA1 upper arms and struts. No...
I'm about to install my engine and drivetrain into my duster. To be on the safe side, I bought a 90 degree speedo adapter. I need to know what type of grease is used in this. I have seen white lithium grease suggested as well and light oils. Can anyone help me?
Thank you!
Where and what does this red wire go and do?
My 72 four speed column is all together and I thought I would ask. I don’t want to tear into the column if I can avoid it.
Peter Bergman of BAC is hands down the best source for information, advice and parts.
Peter worked with me on my 1972 Duster 340 four speed. He designed, built and sourced my Viper braking system, suspension design, steering system, engine components and many other components. He understood I...
I removed my headers and found that my exhaust valves were this color. The motor is fed through a Demon 850, Edelbrock Performer RPM, a street strip high revving cam and burns 100 Octane Sunoco fuel. (due to the high compression.)
Is this color normal?
I am also replacing the timing chain and...
I just picked up a 1970-1972 Duster fiberglass tilt nose. It is in mediocre shape but definitely worth repairing. It has sloppy repair work on the drivers fender.
I will follow up with pictures tomorrow in order to get opinions.
I am thinking about cutting it up and making it look like my car. I...
I am perplexed, my 1972 Duster 340 has manual drum brakes and I want to convert to 11.75 discs following the (disco-tech) system.
I bought the QA1 tubular upper control arms and adjustable strut rods.
I'm keeping the lower control arms. They are refurbed / boxed with Delrin bushings.
Do I need...
I am looking for opinions on several subframe connector options.
I do not want to use the US Cartool weld in type. My preference are bolt on brackets like the Hotchkis type.
I just came across the Magnum Force subframe connectors and I like them a lot.
They are gusseted and braced better than...
Nice Duster Dave! I had a 1971 Bahama Yellow Duster 340 4 speed. I sold it and regretted it as soon as I cashed the check.
I now have a 1972 Duster 340 4 speed. I’m happy again.
Question; I’m looking for a shifter mounting bracket before Saturday. Can anyone help me?
I have bucket seats and want more legroom. My 72 Duster 340 has a 4 speed and it’s nearly impossible to shift into reverse. My knee is up against the steering wheel and shifter. I’m 6’4” and want to move the seat back 4”. Has anyone made or used anything that works? I have seen aftermarket...
Ball fan,
I am interested in more photos of your car. Can you send inside, underneath and exterior pictures? I am also interested in videos as well.
If you can advise of mileage, documentation, etc, I would be a buyer if satisfied.
Thanks,
Paul
