Just my personal opinion. I don't like spacers, adapters, or anything that fits between the wheel and hub. Nothing but wheel. If you're having fitment issues, I urge you to get the correct backspacing.

To each their own, but a properly constructed wheel adaptor is perfectly safe if properly maintained (check the damn lug nut torque).

Agree, but as you well know, there's a pretty big difference between adapters and spacers. Ran nines with homemade billet spacers, I doubt I would try that with adapters..... (And yes, I would check ALL the lugs periodically, not just the ones with spacers)

Wheel adapters/spacers pushed wheels out about 2”. The tires almost touch the top of the wheel arches. After a call to Moser they will drill my axles to 5 x 4.5 plus plug the holes and drill my brake drums for $300. One day turnaround and ship them back to Virginia. More than fair in my opinion...

Yeah, I've been thinking about the wheel adapters and been looking. I can't even find any for that size. I guess I'll just have to go a different route for the rear axle.

yeah, bolt on adapters will be at least 3/4" thick (1" thick if you want the original wheelstuds to not stick past the adapters, you need a pocket in the wheel to run 3/4" thick ones). that will effectively add 1.5-2" to the rear axle width.

You're looking at changing to a different rear axle assembly, having a custom axle shaft made for the 7 1/4, or, wheel adapters. I'm not even sure someone makes a disc kit for a 7 1/4....
