    Carb suggestion for 360

A 750 Proform will work great and is one of the cheapest carbs on that dyno chart and was ahead of the game up to 3400 rpm...The bigger the carb the more power you can make but where in the power band is important to the kind of driving of the vehicle and whats most important to the owner. I...

    Is anyone running a 4.7L???

I ordered a brand new 2000 Dakota with a 4.7 and 3.91 gears. Drag raced it for three years strait and sold it with 43 thousand miles on it. Ran low 15 teens with drag radials.I changed the oil all the time and never had a problem. I have heard of problems with them though. Last new vehicle i...

    340 Vs 360

:happy1:....................All engines make power -- but how you use the power you have --- is everything. Many cars with less powerful engines are beating cars with more powerful engines. The power to the rear tires and the weight of the car is all that matters ----outside of traction.

    Building my first torqueflite.

I just finished building my 904 in my 67 Cuda. I worked Saturday 10 to 12 midnight. Sunday 10 to 10. Monday 8 to 3. The 904 works really good .....but will be taking it back out for a couple of reasons. I want to tighten up the clutch packs a little more. I set the rear...

    484 purple cam..JUNK

It's the power valve. The carb is your whole problem. Run 71/81 jets with the rear power valve blocked off. timing at 38 total.......unhook your vacuum advance. If you have to turn the idle screws out more then a turn and a half then the idle circuit is to lean------a common problem with a...

    NEW setup

Sounds like the perfect set up. If it stalled at 4000 grand before it will stall at a higher rpm now. The cam is a high rpm runner....I don't really see any problems. I think it all depends on how good the porting was....408's need air.

    Mopar 400 2bbl

400...........It's the big block with a reputation ---worse then the 318. No respect lol........I think they are one of the best engines ever made. Strongest block....largest bore....whats not to like. I can't wait to start mine up when it's done. 5000 grand convertor/.557 cam/victor...

    Thicker head gaskets/ less compression...

LOL.....I just read the rest of this post. Just trying to help ya...all is cool....or hot ...i mean....lol I think what IQ52 posted is very interesting.... I would love to see more information on the subject of aluminum vrs steel and the way heat works in a engine using different materials...

    Thicker head gaskets/ less compression...

RustyRatRod, Compression is heat. You can run aluminum heads at a higher compression ratio and have the same -heat in the cylinder -as a lower compression steel headed engine because steel retains heat more then aluminum. The compression ratio is what it is. How much...

    Thicker head gaskets/ less compression...

Your engine with aluminum heads should not ping with a 509. Did you give any thought to a better carb. I responded to you in the other post.... 10.7 with aluminum is like 9.7 with a steel head. I run 9.5 comp.with a steel head and the smaller .484 purple cam and can run 89 pump gas. If it...

Why is it so hard to get good advice !!???

The secondary's might not be coming in soon enough and it's leaning out. I would run at least a 950 cfm carb with mechanical secondary's. A race carb with no choke for sure.--better fuel curve-- A race fuel curve is richer over all. If your running a duel plain intake i would get a 1050 cfm...

What real difference does the lsa on a cam make?

All things being the same in a cam grind, except the Lobe Separation Angle itself.......... a 108-LSA will close the intake valve sooner then a 110 -LSA .....for example. If you wanted to run a cam with a given duration that compliments your compression and or the type of fuel you wanted to...

    Predict my E.T ....

Convertor...........needs at least 4500 stall. 340'S run better with gear and stall. 12 seconds on juice....13 seconds on motor. With convertor....12 seconds on motor and high 11 seconds on juice. That's a really big tire for 3.91's. I believe it's a 30 inch tall tire. That's like running a...
