Slacker's Guide to Fixing Up the 68 Notch

Yes, you had inadvertently fallen into my Slackers ultimate black hole! It is a time warp that not many have returned from! Hmmm…maybe I better read my posts to see where I left off on the Cuda.

Another Mopar Off My Bucket List - Barracuda Fastback

Lol John, well…um, um, it’s actually all your fault that my cuda is often a shelf for empty Amazon boxes before recycle barrel day pickup! If I had an overachiever example like you to follow it would have been done long ago!! After reading your completed “to do” list, I think you may have...

Another Mopar Off My Bucket List - Barracuda Fastback

Hey John! I too have been on hiatus for several years, been lurking a bit, but not posting, but when I got the notification email that you posted something I had to check it out! Really great to hear you woke up on the right side of the grass! My Cuda is still in the garage, just lost steam...

Slacker's Guide to Fixing Up the 68 Notch

Please, I am trying to maintain my recommended daily allowance of slack hours! Those FABO alerts that came up in the corner of the web page are just the type of thing that could ruin my ability to slack! Thanks for the jab guys, probably need a little push to get going on the car again. Scott

Slacker's Guide to Fixing Up the 68 Notch

Hey Steve! I believe if you split the calipers before removing the pistons, and you use an air or grease pressure removal method, you would have to put a plug in the crossover hole on the one side to be able to hold pressure to remove the pistons. The other side would not make a difference...

That is a great idea Dave!

Installing Kelsey Hayes Caliper Pistons ?

I recall one or two of mine were stubborn but the air pushed them out far enough that allowed me to grab them with pliers and muscle them the rest of the way. Some guys are successful using a grease gun an basically hydraulic them out. That is likely safer than using air pressure as those...

Installing Kelsey Hayes Caliper Pistons ?

Yep. If everything looks ok after you pop them out, you may only need to clean things up with a degreaser and put new seals in.

Installing Kelsey Hayes Caliper Pistons ?

The seals should go in pretty easy if you use some assembly lube - a few posts up are some discussions on the lube.

Installing Kelsey Hayes Caliper Pistons ?

Hard to say what kind of corrosion they had sitting around for 16 years - maybe just some gunk holding them in the cylinder, but also our friend named Rusty may have paid a visit. If they look OK after you get them out and inspect them, then yes. I think you will have to look carefully in...

Installing Kelsey Hayes Caliper Pistons ?

Took a little time, but not too difficult IMHO. The most difficult part for me was trying to get the old pistons out, but was able to do it with some air pressure. If you look at my restoration page below I have some documentation on my caliper rebuild starting at post #13. Rock Auto sells...

Rezvani Tank SUV with Hellcat engine

One option that does sort of intrigue me is the electrified door handles to keep intruders at bay!

Yeah I would rather have a 50 caliber than the optional smoke screen generator they offer. I mean really, how often do you need a smoke screen generator.....

Anybody experts on Toyota airbags and seat belt tensioners?

I think the collision was on the front drivers fender mainly on the side. The drivers side belt pulls out but doesnt lock like it should. The rear belts are locked up. Passenger front belt is ok.

Anybody experts on Toyota airbags and seat belt tensioners?

I was thinking along the same lines, get any seatbelts in there for the grandkids! Originally I was just going to order some replacement seat belt pretensioners and get them to a friend who will be flying over there in a few weeks. That’s when I learned that airlines prohibit them in luggage...

Fake support scammers get network wiped

An elderly relative fell for this scam twice in about a years time, and I think they hit him up for about $400 each time. Once he was able to cancel the credit charge after he informed us what had happened, the second time I think he ate the charges. Pretty sure he gave these guys everything...

Anybody experts on Toyota airbags and seat belt tensioners?

My son-in-law who lives in Africa recently purchased a 2012 RAV4 that had been in an accident where some of the seat belts are no longer functioning. Doing some research I have discovered these newer cars have little explosives in the seat belt tensioners that go off during an accident that pull...

    Screw that.

I actually think it was only 115, I got caught in crawling slow traffic trying to exit the airport so my thermometer was registering some heat radiating off the asphalt. Noticed how I said “only” 115.

Have ya'll seen this...NEW from Classic Industries

I have only seen two other sources for those, PG Classics and Laysons. I think Layson’s were also made with stainless steel, I wonder if it is the same supplier? Someone on FABO had the Layson’s and posted about it several years ago with pics. I recall they looked very nice but I believe some...
