CAR HUNT! or BOF & me car shopping!

I was at the hospital yesterday with my mom and saw an encompass magazine with a Shasta trailer on the cover. Thought you might like to see it. http://encompassmag.com/2013/06/cover-feature-mini-tour-retro-travelers/

not A body; but need big block truck help!!

Haven't been on in a while so I just saw this. You still need some help. Done lots of big block truck stuff. The van mounts ARE different. That I know for sure. Not sure about the manifolds, but I have several sets of truck manifolds. I have an engine sitting here on the floor straight out of a...

CAR HUNT! or BOF & me car shopping!

I've been meaning to upload these photos since last year, but I never could get around to it. I work special bicycle events during the summer months and get to see lots of Colorado (I have some beautiful pictures along the way.) Here is a picture of me on the first morning of Ride the Rockies...

CAR HUNT! or BOF & me car shopping!

I couldn't agree more!!!!!!!! I hate to say that I don't come to FABO much lately (not much, or ANY for that matter, work going on my Dart now), but I ALWAYS make time to come and keep up on Car Hunt. This thread is ALWAYS worth coming and spending a little time with. It's informative...

CAR HUNT! or BOF & me car shopping!

Nobody knows how to dicker anymore!!!!!! I've noticed that more and more lately. I price things I'm selling with a little "wiggle" room you know, then people that come and look at them either walk away or pay full price (which isn't always a bad thing.) BUT, it sure would be nice if more people...

Have you verified you balancer marks with TDC?

    Roller cam thrust

I just had a thought. I don't know if they make single bolt roller cams or not, but would it work to use a stud and nut instead of the bolt and grind and polish the end of the stud to provide the proper end play?

    Ream crankshaft for pilot bushing?

Check this one. This is the newer style bearing that fits in the outer register for the torque converter. http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detail/BCA0/FC69907.oap?pt=C2325&ppt=C0015. I have a factory one out in the garage I can check and get the Chrysler number later.

Help needed with 440 motorhome dipstick...

Yep, what he said. The pan should be the same as the truck pan, just the tube is a little different and the stick should be different. You might check the dealer and see if the tube/stick are still available sitting on a shelf somewhere. Don't just take their first word that it is NS1. Duh, we...

    Are these Mopar ??????????

May look inside or post pics of the inside. There is usually some sort of manufacturers mark or at least a part number inside or on the back.

340 ta block whats it worth

Yeah, I knew where one was around here, yellow 4-speed. If I could only have talked her into letting go of it. The original engine was in the trunk with a spun bearing as I recall and it just sat under a tree for years. She wouldn't think of parting with it, had no plans to fix it up and just...

    Wits End With A 318

This is also basically how I do it, with a couple more parts to be more precise so it starts easier. After feeling the initial rush of air, put a socket on the balancer bolt and turn it until the timing marks are at TDC. Make sure the rotor is under the correct post on the dist. for number one...

    Carburetor delima

I would absolutely go with the TQ. Make sure you run through the adjustments though to make sure they are right on.

    Cummins diesel question

Yeah, the newer ones have a canister type filter. The '00-'02 have one that replaces from the top and I hear is very easy to use. The '97-'99 is a bit of a pain. Here is a picture of mine when I was installing my fuel pressure gauge. Yes, that's it buried down there under the new fittings you...

    Cummins diesel question

HMM, you posted while I was typing. So, you have the last of the spin-on filters. I would say to check the sensor. I don't think I'd have used diesel that had been sitting in a can in the barn for several months either, but I'm VERY picky about my fuel. I've had a couple of friends have trouble...

    Cummins diesel question

My first question was also what year. There are several different designs of WIF sensors over the years. My thought would be that you cracked or broke the sensor while changing the filter. Did you pre-fill the filter when you re-installed it or just used the lift pump to fill it?

    Vin numbers on big blocks

They didn't put VIN's on them at all before 1968, then in 1968 it was on the top rear of the block near the oil galley, by where the bell housing bolts on. Starting in '69 they started putting it on the side just above the oil pan rail. I can't answer the whole vs partial VIN question, I'm not...

I'd love to see this. I'm thinking about putting one in behind a big block when I get that in.

    What diff is this???

A BUNCH of searching through the Dana website and a couple of parts manuals I have. I knew it looked like the one I just bought and was probably for a Dana axle. 73494X is actually the part number, 11-16-94 is the date of manufacture so I assumed it was in a 1995 model vehicle, which helped...

    What diff is this???

I just bought one for $130 on Ebay, then couldn't use the darn thing :angry5:. I was going to install it in the front of my '98 Cummins, but I recently swapped in '01 axles and the shafts are now 1.5", 32 spline. I didn't figure that out until a few days before the gear swap I was doing. I also...

F-body manual disc what size MC

I think your swap is ill advised. The knuckle on the F/J/M cars, as well as the later rubber isolated B/R cars, is taller than the original knuckle in the A-body cars (as well as the earlier B/E body.) This would cause the upper and lower control arms to be less than parallel and therefore would...

    Name these wheels.

It does look like a regular cop car wheel. BUT, if it is indeed 15X8 (look to see if it is stamped near the valve stem) it would most surely be a Super Coupe wheel. They usually had a rough finish though.
