    So I assembled my rear end yesterday 8 3/4 3:55 green bearings! When I bolted down my axles and backing plates things got a little snug! Axles have 3" studs, bolts with lock washers under heads.     Sooooo. I have a 69 cuda stock rear brakes pads are 9x2 I believe, front has been converted to discs. I have had the axles drilled out to 5x4.5 green bearings, is there a drum that will fit with out drilling, or would I be farther ahead to just drill to match?

    Ok so my questions are... Running 904 behind fresh .60 over 360 and after a couple of weeks of sawing off a tire or two ,second gear started to fade away. This did not surprise me to much. Forgot to mention a new 2800 stall converter as well. The trans is dated 69 don't think it has been cracked...

    The question of the hour???? 741,742,489 housing, are they all the same and the bearing races determine pinion diam. ,taper to straight shaft, or are castings diff to accept different races and bearings and pinions etc ??? friendly bet involved lol

    Heading out to check out a used 8 3/4 suregrip, I've got the clutch/cone thing down, wondering if there is size diff between 8 1/4 9 1/4 diameter or bolt pattern I think it might just be unit on its own no case gears etc.? Is there #'s I should know anything along those lines???
