    Question to A/C experts

Happy Holidays, Do A/C parts from a 1974 Dart Sport interchange with parts from a 70 Dart 318? Does it matter if the doner system is from a 225 ci? My Dart is an original A/C car missing all of the under hoad components. Thank you, John

    Throttle linkage question

Your right about the kickdown...you have to slam the pedal to the floor. Do you know if the transmission can shift from 3rd to 1st? It seems that when I do hit passing gear the revs go crazy instantly. Can a stall converter effect the shifting of the trans? Lastly, can the shift kit be...

    Throttle linkage question

Thanks Fishy68. The problem is that if I make shorten the rod, I get better shift points but then I do not have a kickdown. I cannot find a good compromise. John

    Throttle linkage question

I recently had my transmission rebuilt (727, 3550 stall, 3.55 rear) and the shifts are crisp. Problem is that the shift points are too high and it makes the engine pass redline before shifting. I have to lift off the throttle slightly for it to shift to save the engine from grenading. Passing...

    Weird horn issue

I can't seem to figure out this problem I am having. Recently, when I turn the steering wheel the horn will sound on it's own until I turn the wheel back to the center position. I have a "Tuff Wheel" and I removed the cover and everything looks to be ok...visually. As a temporary...

    Valve lifter question.

Bill, I had lifter noise once warmed and it turns out that the rockers were installed backwards...each cylinder should have a left and a right and they are slightly offset. Once it was corrected the noise went completely away. John

    Sudden loss of trans fluid

I didn't have a breaker bar or the or the large socket so I bolted the started back up and tapped it until I got to the other 2 bolts....it worked fine. Now I am having a difficult time getting to the top 4 bolts where the engine meets the trans.

    Sudden loss of trans fluid

Great write up Small Block...your advice will come in handy. My car is a 70 Duster 340 with 727 torqueflight. I know that I will have to turn over the engine to get at all the bolts on the flex plate. How do I do this?

    Sudden loss of trans fluid

Thanks Dartman. I'm thinking that it is the front seal. I went out and bought a transmission adapter for my floor jack. Will help with the removal/installation. Any tips/suggestions on removing the transmission?

    Sudden loss of trans fluid

Ok, I put the car on jack stands and added 2 quarts of Dexron. The trans did not leak as the car idled in Park. As soon as I put it in neutral the 2 quarts poured right out. The fluid is leaking out of the bottom of the bell housing where the torque convertor is...right out of the inspection...

    Sudden loss of trans fluid

Thanks for the tip. Does the trans have to come out to replace the front seal?

    Sudden loss of trans fluid

After a spirited jaunt....my transmission fluid emptied on the road. Underside of car covered with fluid. I was manually shifting from 1st to 2nd and about half mile down the road I started to smell the fluid burning on the exhaust pipes. Pulled over and the fluid rolled out to my feet...not...

    Rockers installed wrong

Good point. There is some visable wear on the valve tip where it meets the rocker. Not sure if the valve is opening or closing enough. I do have a lot of hydrocarbons which could be caused by this. This fall I plan to pull the heads and have them freshened up.

    Rockers installed wrong

Well guys....the tick is gone and it was due to the rockers being installed incorrectly. Here is what the notes read, cyl 8 had 2 left rockers, cyl 4 were reversed, cyl 2 had 2 right rockers and cyl 3 were reversed. It's a wonder the vehicle ran as well as it did. Technician also noted...

    Rockers installed wrong

I questioned the shop about that and they said that 3 cylinders were wrong.

I also posted on Moparstyle and it was also explained that you must have LH and RH per cylinder.

    Rockers installed wrong

Wow, I guess that would screw things up in a hurry. Were the valves ok?

    Rockers installed wrong

Perhaps they are referring to left or right orientation like you mentioned. Thanks for all the response and pic...I now have a better understanding.

    Rockers installed wrong

Thanks for the quick response. My car also has intermittant exhaust smoke which is blue in color and smells more like gas then oil...could this be caused by the rockers being installed incorrectly? The shop is hesitant to pull the heads because they feel that this could perhaps fix my tick...

    Rockers installed wrong

My duster is currently at a performance shop to diagnose an engine tick from the passenger side of the engine. They advised me that 3 rockers are installed on the wrong side of the engine....they are labled left or right. My question is this, What negative effect will this cause and could...
