    Hot ballast resistor & ICM

Thanks 67Dart273, I believe my BR blew because I accidently left the key in the on position a couple times while diagnosing a problem. Replacing the battery fixed the overcharging issue. It was drawing too much from the system even after I drove it a couple miles to let it normalize. Thanks for...

    Hot ballast resistor & ICM

That's good to know, and easy to add.

    Hot ballast resistor & ICM

Thanks, mine is a dual resistor and one side blew out. I replaced it, improved all grounds, replaced the negative battery cable, and it runs great now. FYI, the ballast resistor runs 310 degrees under normal operating conditions, measured with an IR thermometer.

    Hot ballast resistor & ICM

Thanks for the info on the ECU pins. I will use the Duralast ECU for troubleshooting and as a backup. I replaced the original coil with a stock replacement. No change in voltage and resistance, but it's good to have an extra on hand. The ballast is a dual resistor in this car. The negative...

    Hot ballast resistor & ICM

The resistor that's in there now has the ceramic fill and is working, but the last one got so hot that it blew. It sounded like a firecracker went off. The ceramic blew out of it and the wire is exposed. The white paint is now black under the resistor. Yes, I understand a ceramic resistor is...

    Hot ballast resistor & ICM

'74 Dart Sport, 225 with factory electronic ignition & ballast resistor. How hot is normal for the ballast resistor? I turn the key to the run position, and feel it warm up within 30 seconds. After a minute it's almost too hot to touch. Grounding issue? I improved the ICM ground to the inner...

    [SOLD] 1974 Dart Hang Ten

Hi, I bought this one in Oct 2013 from this ad. I live in Cincinnati, and have been showing it in Mopar survivor displays, driving it on trips, local events, etc. I've made several reliability improvements and drive it everywhere, while still maintaining its originality.

    '74 Dart Sport console removal

I almost have the heater core out of my '74 Dart Sport, but the console needs to move back about 4 inches to slide it out from under the dash. I removed the two rear mounting screws that are accessed from the storage compartment. I can lift up on the back a few inches, but it is attached at...

My Hang 10 survivor turns 40 today!

Hi, Good to hear from you. My wife, daughter, and I take it to church and out for ice cream. Last weekend I drove it to Mopar Mania for the big Somernites Cruise in southern KY. The weekend before that I had it in the Survivor's tent at the Chrysler Power Classic at National Trail. It's fun...

My Hang 10 survivor turns 40 today!

Ha! I didn't think of that. Yesterday I finally got it off jack stands from the brake job. Today I'll test drive and make sure everything is right with the brakes. My daughter would probably be in favor of a cake or cupcakes.

My Hang 10 survivor turns 40 today!

Thanks, I really want to make it to Moparfest for the first time. This might be the year. Unfortunately it doesn't have California emissions. That would make for a cool story if a surfer owned it at some point.

My Hang 10 survivor turns 40 today!

Thanks, it has around 76k miles. It's not so low that I'd be afraid to rack up miles on it. Just enjoying it, driving it, and preserving it as best I can.

had the first car show of the year today

I enjoyed hanging out with you guys at the show and checking out what you did to the Dart and Duster. I was surprised to see two big block a-bodies at the show and a couple Dart Sports. 12 Mopars at a medium sized local show was way more than I expected.

[WANTED] Radiator: '74 Dart 225 auto

I guess I should've mentioned that it needs to be re-cored as well. The PN is 3692905, but as long as it's a factory radiator and dimensionally the same, I may go with a different PN if it's in good shape.

[WANTED] Radiator: '74 Dart 225 auto

The original radiator on my survivor Dart has a small leak at the water inlet. I want a Chrysler radiator to go back in, and not an aftermarket replacement. To repair the original is expensive. Anybody doing a V8 swap and looking to unload a leak-free A-body slant radiator?
