Anybody seen the latest in wire weld? Brazing!

Before the advent of mig welding, brazing with a gas welder was common .One disadvantage was that it would not withstand a whole lot of vibration so was used carefully on body panels. On another note, I knew a fellow who built a nice set of headers for a Dodge 6 cylinder using brass welding on...

    67 Fastback getting 8.8 rear

Hi curious as to your source for the novel spring perches ? Seems it would prevent warping the housing from welding If they don't rotate, but a short weld should solve any problem I would guess

Have TTI downpipes on a 318 in a 75 Scamp. Passenger side was a good fit but drivers side took some modification. There are different configurations on drivers side manifolds. Maverick rear end swap

Has anyone actually swapped in a Maverick rear end? Width is right, spring perches are in the right place. Only difference is that the pinion is centered rather than offset like a mopar. Would this create any problem with driveshaft harmonics? Any knowledgeable opinion would be welcome, thanks

Saw this happen to a dodge truck once in our shop Turned out the centrifugal advance weights were stuck in the fully adanced mode. Truck would stall as soon as you pulled it in to drive. Drove the owner crazy and stumped the dealership mechanics who looked at it and said it must be because the...

    Mpg

Personally I liked the one advertised as a mini supercharger. It was a carb spacer with a little propeller in it. Two propellers if you had a 2 barrel I bet a four barrel would have been awesome hey?

    who is into "later" cars

Later cars also come with seatbelts and more chance of having a/c if you want it. I have a 75 Scamp and I am fine with it. Looks good and gets noticed when you take it out. Fun counts way more than snob appeal in my books. When did a bodys first come out with factory seatbelts? Anybody?

    Painters booth question

Natural gas forced air furnace blowing thru a filter, but located OUTSIDE of the booth IN the warm shop area. With a window opened enough to supply combustion air and make up air for the booth exhaust. Have done this down to -20f. but wouldn't recommend it except for small parts. Warmer is better.!

    whoa baby! Rocker bolt stretch

Factory rocker bolts on my 360 seemed waaay too soft when I tightened them so I replaced them with grade 8's. which seems to work just fine. Torque specs in the book I had were out to lunch as well.

    Problems Removing Wheel Trim Screws

I have removed literally hundreds if not thousands of those pesky screws in the course of many years working in the autobody and refinishing trade. Most effective method for really badly stuck screws was to put a dull chisel bit in an air chisel and then give the side of the screw head a few...

    vinyl top or not?

The seam on my 75 Scamp was spotwelded and then poorly filled with sort of a flexible bondo from the factory. Don't recall there being any lead though I'm sure there was in earlier models as that was standard going back for a long time. I did the necessary bodywork on the sail panels and then...

    Coolant in the oil pics

If any of the bolts that were removed and reinstalled penetrate into the waterjacket They would require a thread sealant. Not sure about water pump bolts but I'm pretty sure some of the timing cover bolts do. Someone with better knowledge could offer a comment perhaps?
