    Windshield and Wiper assembly replacement.

Any ideas on cheaper glass? Also are the parts for the wipers available anywere? I bent the one driver side one since the wiper arm was seized to it and I'm sure the passenger side that snapped the arm isn't much better.

    Windshield and Wiper assembly replacement.

Ended up pulling the cracked windshield from the dart today since it was finally nice out again. I think either the windshield itself was/is leaking and/or the wiper pivots. Any suggestions on where to get a new gasket and glass? So far nobody local has anything and if I remember...

Leaking Axle seal on 68 Dart

Finally got the rear brakes torn apart and the driver rear is definitely leaking. I took some picture before I went to work but I forget where i put the camera at the moment. How hard is it to replace this seal? I did some research and is looks like i should be able to just pop out the...

    Wheel hub sources?

Since I'm in the middle of redoing my entire brake system I got to talking with a guy at work about pressing out the hubs from the old drums and into the new drums and he suggested probably could get new hubs for not too much money and just get new parts pressed in and have it be easier overall...

Well Crap it needs it all!

Well the funny thing is every parts store i called including napa all say the same thing. Must be pulling incorrect info from the same source or maybe it specs 2 for 4 wheel disc brakes perhaps.

Well Crap it needs it all!

Making some progress getting stuff tore apart to get final needed parts and start on replacing things. Parts store swears that I should have 2 rear hoses and I only see 1. Is there a second hose I'm missing? Got all my jackstands tied up in the front atm so i can't jack the rear for a better...

Well Crap it needs it all!

Everything is on hold till thursday or friday for the moment. Weather is kinda wet at the moment and work eats up a large part of the day. I may even do a complete article on how to completely redo the entire brake system (from a n00b perspective) and get pictures of everything.

    Missing parts mystery.

Is this the pump wire for the electric pump? Nothing else around it seems unplugged and it reaches about the hole where the tank/pump should be bolted down.

Well Crap it needs it all!

I'm gonna take a stab it at later this week if the weather permits. Probably gonna grab a 25' roll of Nickel Copper lines from the parts store for $50. Never will I have to worry about rust again!

Well Crap it needs it all!

UPDATE. Well I got all the parts in yesterday and after cleaning up some other things I started on the brakes. Apparently I'm gonna have to replace everything up and probably including the Master cylinder cause it a tad crusty too. Started on passenger front wheel and it started off...

    Missing parts mystery.

Thanks I'll have to check it probably is foot pump being a base model car. Where should this foot pump be? If that's missing I'll probably add the option for a wired pump. Where would be the best place to find factory mirrors? That was my attempt to contain some of the garbage the...

    Missing parts mystery.

I can cleaning up some of the grime the other day and noticed the wiper spray nozzle sticking up and noticed the hose going over to this. No wiper reservoir! Before it started downpouring I tried to see if i could find wires for a pump or anything but didnt notice anything obvious. Any...

Well Crap it needs it all!

Thanks for the advice and it makes sense the more I think about it. Ordered the drums, wheel cylinders, shoes and a few other small things that the car needs last night. Talked to a few guys at work about what I was thinking and they dont like the idea of cutting a 8.8 at all unless a shop was...

Well Crap it needs it all!

Well after a bunch of research last night I'm thinking about getting a 8.8 rear out of an explorer having it one side trimmed to even it out and having it refreshed to maybe a 3.27 L I can get a open rearend assembly for $100 nearby. The fun part will be finding a decent shop to do the work to...

Well Crap it needs it all!

This a "poverty" car. Cheapest everything and no A/C. drums measure roughly 9 with the wheels on the car and from what I'm reading that stock for a base 68 270. I'd love to add disc brakes but everything I looked at either was a parts list with a bunch of no longer available parts or a...

Well Crap it needs it all!

I have no doubt it needs most if not all the things listed. Probably more. When we picked it up hitting the brakes pulled the car HARD to the right. Had the shop look at it and saw most of the leaking bits myself. Upon reassembly it pulled slightly to the left but stopping power was extremely...

Well Crap it needs it all!

Picked up my 68 dart yesterday and the brake system is beyond toast. Heres what the shop says: "NEEDS COMPLETE BRAKE JOB FRONT AND REAR ALL 4 WHEEL CLYINDERS - ALL 4 DRUMS - HARDWARE ALL AROUND FRONT BRAKE HOSES - SHOES FRONT AND REAR - LF SHOES ARE SATURATED GREASE SEALS AND...

Bought my first car older then me!

What do you think this car is worth as is? Got my first few mods picked out. 1. Electronic Ignition assuming it doesn't have it already. 2. Tuneup (Cap, Rotor, wires, plugs etc) 3. Oil, Coolant, Trans fluid, etc changed. 4. Disc Brakes up front when I have the $$$. Suggestions? As for wacky...

Bought my first car older then me!

Thanks! I think the tag expires in 2015 from and seller claims he took it on a 100 mile drive "recently". I look forward to cleaning it up and seeing what there is to work with. At least with my former cars being ex police cars I'm used to having to tear everything apart to get it clean!

Bought my first car older then me!

Always liked my dad's old cars growing up and really wish he had kept them but that was before the prices went nuts. IIRC one I really wanted a white 69 barracuda in pretty fair shape he sold for $2000. Can't find many deals like that anymore. Anyways on to my purchase that I'll be picking...
