    Lower gears and still slugish.

I have the linkage way back because I could feel the spring back pressure in that area. (dose that make sense). Didn't think it was reaching the kick down area. If I am hard on the throttle shouldn't the transmission hold in each gear longer than normal driving?

    Lower gears and still slugish.

soo I went out checked timing. I'm right at 19 degrees@ idle. Drove the car in drive, doesn't matter if I take off slow or full throttle it shifts 1st to 2nd @ around 10mph and 2nd to 3rd @ around 15mph. Seems odd. Also no kick down ever. Have the linkage all the way back. Tried in the middle an...

    Lower gears and still slugish.

I have been having trouble with timing. Its hard to pin down. added timing tape, running mag pickup in dist. Dist has silver springs on the mechanical advance. Going out in a few and get what its set at right now and let you guys know. The car started instantly before an my dad said I needed to...

    Lower gears and still slugish.

Running street tires. My 318 is .30 over with a eddy 7177 cam, eddy aluminum heads, eddy rpm intake, 650 quick fuel carb, long tube headers, full MSD ignition. My 8.8 is a limited slip with 3.73s. I had a 7 1/4 with 2.76s. Taking off from a stop is horrible. Looked like a stock converter, I know...

    Lower gears and still slugish.

I just finished my 8.8 swap. Going from stock 2.76 to 3.73 gears. I have a 71 dart with 318 and a 904. Have several upgrades on motor thought lower gears would make up for lower torque 318. Think the tranny is stock, I serviced it when it was out of the car. New oil an filter. There was some...

    Hard pedal

Well so far got driver side caliper tore apart. It looks pretty good(as far as no corrosion or stuck pistons). But was filled with a lot of black sludge. Also I learned when you paint your calipers don't paint where the pads sit. (dumb move) Had to tap the pads out of caliper on the bench. Going...

    Hard pedal

I have done lots of brake jobs and it never took this much effort. Also I had them of the car when I did this. (painted them). So the fluid had no resistance. had to do one piston at a time. Couldn't use my caliper tool or my (go to) C clamp. Had to use a trailer shackle and bolts and then still...

    Hard pedal

The calipers are the solid mount not sliding/floating ones. They are 4 piston. I think every issue that I have had you have helped me with nm9stheham. :D:DThank you. Also all you guys are great. Going to tear them apart just to count them out. Then new hoses, finally will tackle the MC...

    Hard pedal

ya I know.. tried to get seat/valve out and tore it up. didn't have a small ez out. Since I'm doing the 8.8 swap with disk in rear what MC would be good? I know I need an adjustable proportioning valve. I think between the old hoses an MC is the hard pedal issue. ( I hope). My caliper pistons...

    Hard pedal

Hoses are old... Just ordered new ones. The bore for most are the same as what I had and this new one. 1.032 Tried to take out pipe seat and residual valve on front circuit and pretty much ruined the new MC. ( still never got seat out ). So now I need another MC. That might be a good thing...

    Hard pedal

Ok so I have a 71 dart with front disks rear drums. Brakes were good when I got it, (I mean pedal normal feel and stopped good). Saw pads were low and MC lid leak, soo decided to do all brakes. First rear shoes and turned drums. Drove car all was good. Pulled it in to do fronts. Needed new...

    low vacume

    low vacume

After my first startup/cam break in, the carb needed rebuilt due to old gas. After carb rebuild it ran much better. I am around 12 before on my timing. it still loads up at idle and will occasionally spit back through the carb. The quick fuel carb has 4 adjustment screws and with my vac gauge on...

    Another pushrod length question.

They are adjustable style and your right on 60779. it had cup/ball and got the number off them and ordered all new ones. but think this might have been part of the problem pervious. When I started to set them, when trying to get zero clearance in step one...then 1/4 turn four final adjustment...

    Another pushrod length question.

So put the motor together today and got to the valve train part. When I bought this it had bad lifters and a wiped cam and bent pushrods. I repurchased the same parts assuming PO did not adjust rockers properly. Well I'm using edelbrock 6077 heads. with edelbrock 7177 cam. The heads say to use...

    Piston Question

The heads are 60779's. I would assume they were bought as complete heads.(springs , valves, ) I'm with you.. I want more low end torque. I only have the springs on the head no light ones. any other piston options close in price.

    Piston Question

Just looked at the 526Ap and all of them say press fit. Since mine are floating would I need to change rods or pins. If pin size is the same can you press in the floating pin?
