    8 3/4 confused?????

    I'm confused too!! My 8 3/4 measures 55.00 for width 45.50 for center to center perches with 11" brakes, and posi unit. Axles were attached old style (nuts). The other bare housing measures 53.00 for width and 43.50 perches. I guess they just eyeballed some of the measurements!!!

    Tried it once over a ratchet handle. I do not recommend this as I split the head on the handle (yea for lifetime warranties). Did you need a bathroom break after it broke!!! and I bet they wonder how you broke that ratchet like that and still have to warranty it :toothy10:

    it has the big bolt pattern 5 x 4.5, both ball joints new and ones that were in the car have the same socket size, about 1 3/4" from one flat side to the other.

    I have both style blocks and like MOPER said the #5 main is different, It does take different oil pans! I would return it and make them get you a block like you had.

    What is best to use? Floating pistons or pressed on? I have a set of 340 bushed rods or do I reuse my press fit 318 rods? Whats the main difference between them?

    Awesome information. I checked with the machine shop and he mic's the block to check for overbore capability??? Still got me not wanting to use it.     My overall goal is to reach 6.40 1/8 mile with the Dart and still street drive it. They have a street 6.40 max class racing once a month at the local track. Of course on a limited budget. If thats not within reach then a decent street car is second my goal.

    Yes I told the machine shop the max overbore, He went 30 over for the sake of getting pistons easier! And not tell me until I got the motor back. You should see the mess he made balancing it.     I'm a little worried about the cylinder wall thickness. The machine shop bored my 1998 360 30 over, and I think max bore is 20 over. I wanting to push the limit, trying for 600hp with NOS, Is it safe to use this block?
