8-3/4" axle length / housing questions

Dr Diff got back to me and apparently it's a common problem with the old Power-Locks with 2 side gears. Looks like I need to upgrade my unit to the wide 1-piece side gears and replace my messed up axle.

8-3/4" axle length / housing questions

my axles are big bolt pattern (BBP) with 10" diameter x 2-1/2" brake shoes, not the narrower 1-3/4" that I think is standard? So the big bolt pattern axles are longer than the small bolt pattern? Or is it the BBP and larger brake backing plate that is causing the length change? If so, I...

8-3/4" axle length / housing questions

Dumb question for the group that has me stumped. I bought a '68 Cuda that had an 8-3/4" with a 741 case with 2.93 open gears and good big-bolt pattern Yukon axles with green bearings. I bought a used complete 3rd member (741 case with 3.91 gears and the good Powr-Lock clutches), installed...

    repost from exhaust: TTI636vsDougsD450

I currently run Doug's D-450 on my 63 Valiant and love them. The install is tight, but just be patient and you'll be fine. I installed mine with the engine & tranny in place and found that pulling the torsion bars made it a piece of cake. Top starter bolt is fun, but was regardless of the...

    Whats Your Favourite Colour?

Depends on the quality of the bodywork/paint job and how much time you like to spend keeping her perfect. Nothing looks better than black on a perfectly straight body that's baby'd. And nothing looks worse than black if it's not perfect. The light/bright colors will hide a multitude of...

    Exhaust Ideas?

If you want quiet inside the car, DO NOT GO WITH FLOWMASTER. Or any other chamber styled muffler. You want a straight thru/fiberglass packed muffler. I replaced my Flowmasters with MagnaFlows (Dynomax would have worked too) because I was sick of the interior resonance. After a 30 minute...

TTI headers for early A-bodies are coming!

But aren't the Hedman's fenderwell headers? If I was willing to cut the car, it would have had fenderwells 5 years ago when I built it with Spitfires. Call me crazy, but a street/strip car that's in perfect condition isn't my first choice for fenderwell headers.

    Rear seats question

My 63 Valiant headliner had 5 bows. Got my liner from Legenday Auto Interiors along with the carpet. Both fit excellent.

Guys, Just wanted to let you all know that TTI will have their new UNDER-CHASSIS full tube headers for small block early A-bodies ready for sale in mid-April. Prices are $750 for ceramic coated, $779 for polished ceramic. I know because I already have pre-ordered my set.

I had my cheap-o Spitfire Headers coated a 4 years ago by Jet-Hot. Still look great.

Back glass rubber for the Valiants

If I can ever figure out how post them! My files are too big and I don't know how to shrink them.

It was the split piece. Worked fine.

Back glass rubber for the Valiants

I got my window rubbers from Layson's for my 63 a couple years ago. I've gotten numerous things from them and the products have all been good quality. The problem with Layson's is the customer service (or lack there of). BE sure to check and double check you orders when they arrive.

    63-66 A-body header alternatives

I have the Spitfires on my 360 Valiant right now. They're better than cast iron manifolds, but not by too much. I'm running mid-12's thru them, but am ready to step up to the Dougs D-450's as the Spitfires are holding me back. Bigtime! If you're running a street car, the Spitfires will be...

siwtching to Eddy heads on a 360

Moper: I didn't do the best job in typing my list of parts. My current intake is a dual plane Weiand, but I'm switching to the Victor once I get the Eddy heads and real headers on it. Thanks for the info on the Eddy springs. I was planning on using the same springs I'm running with the...

siwtching to Eddy heads on a 360

Has anyone had any unforeseen problems or modifications needed when switching to Eddy heads on a 360? I'm getting ready to put Eddy heads on my engine and wanted to see if there is anything to look out for. My current set-up is as follows: 360 bored .030 over stock crank and rods KB...

Switching to Eddy heads on a 360

Currently running a 284/.528" solid Mopar cam. Switching to a 296/.557" solid Mopar when I pull the heads. RPM wise, I'm figuring low 6000's. Shifting at something like 62 or 6300. I bought my Eddy heads at Summit for $1150 complete with valves and springs.

Switching to Eddy heads on a 360

I bought a set of Eddy heads this winter for my 360 and was wondering there are any serious "do's" or "don't's" when it comes using them? I know that they require different head bolts and already have them. I've heard that certain headers don't fit them (Spitfires), but are there any other...

    Early A-body SBlock headers

I called Petronix last week to check on the Doug's D-450 headers. The sales rep indicated that they don't have them in the catalog becuase they're not a high demand item, but he confirmed 100% that they still make them. They don't have any in stock right now, but are currently taking orders...
