problem fixed. it was the driveshaft that was made by the prior shop that is garbage. guess I should not have taken it for granted that it was good. but I was dealing with a few other suspension issues at the same time all could have been the problem. thanks for all your help

    vibration

hi folks, well I took my shaft to a driveshaft shop (25 years in business) and show him my driveshaft. once he saw the decal from the prior short lived shop that cut and balanced it for me many years ago he laughed and told me that was the problem. he figured he repaired/replace quite a few of...

    vibration

hi folks well I drove the car today with a different drive shaft and it was worse. so I feel the first shaft front u joint seemed loose very easy to swivel so I think I will just have the shaft balanced and new u joints and see what happens. it did come out of a b-body that I had cut to length...

    vibration

I have another driveshaft I will try it is 48 inches long so a bit shorter but if I get different results then I will get the new joints on the first shaft. I did notice a lot of grease on my drive shaft loop which is at the end of the trans so maybe the bushing/seal is bad.

    pinion adjustment

hi folks, well after carefully measuring the gap between the floorboard and the snubber its at 3/16-1/4 at the most. the mopar chassis book say's 0-1/2 for 4 speed cars but don't pre load it. so I will adjust the gap to around 7/16-1/2 inch and choose the best personal setting. I have actually...

    pinion adjustment

rumblefish I agree with you. the tires spinning is not good. I feel I just need to adjust the snubber where the tires dig in . as far as traction problem because I now am now leaving rubber marks marks it can be cured with good tires. but at least the rubber is digging in and not spinning on top...

    pinion adjustment

hi there was always tire spin as if the tires were being kept of the ground slightly and I feel It was because the snubber was up against the floor board not allowing the third member to rotate enough for the tires to dig in

    pinion adjustment

well after years of wondering why my car would not leave the rubber marks on the street when I would do a burnout I always thought it was my ss springs that are for a 64-65 b body 3400 lb. but finally after looking at the pinion snubber it was about 3/8 " from the floor board. so once I remover...

i spent hours on the web looking to replace my mopar drag shocks on my 68 barracuda with ss springs. I found the Monroe gas magnum p/n 66859 to be a perfect fit but what really sold me was the 28 inches extended length. 35 dollars each e bay

    off set hanger question

thanks guys I thought they would work .don't get me wrong I measured both mopar and dr.'s hangers and they are the same in thickness etc. it's just the center pins for the bushings are welded in place to the brackets, in stead of using bolts pushed thru both brackets. I just like the welded version.

    off set hanger question

hi folks for years I ran the mopar off set spring kit but seemed to have problems so I have purchased dr. differentials off set kit and really like the front hanger idea of no drilling into the frame for the nut ,BUT I think the rear shackle brackets and bolts are not as strong as the mopar...
