    64 Dart Seat Input??

I owned a classic car when I was in high school, which came with headrests from the factory, but I ended up swapping the seats for units from an earlier model. The headrests were actually more intrusive, and the '55 seats that I swapped in increrased interior space more than I ever imagined...

    64 Dart Seat Input??

I saw your post on BigBlockDart, and so I thought that I'd pitch in. You've done a lot of great work, and I hope you keep your stock look with either the original seats, or similar era Mopar seats. It's your car, but I've seen plenty of unfortunate interiors stuffed with bad Velour seats from...

65 Dart Transmission Question And Options

This should help if you are serious about having a four-speed: http://www.slantsix.org/articles/4-speeds/ODA833fourspeed1.htm Keisler should have some reproduction 4-speed humps available, which you would need to use with their Tremec 5-speed kit anyway ( Which for the effort spent, is a...

    1964 273 introduction

I just bought a technical service manual for my '64 Dart that a mechanic, who also bought a brand new Dart in 1964, had in his garage. There is no mention of the 273 V8, only the poly 318 and 361s that were in the bigger cars. Does anyone know if the 273 was introduced later in the model year...

    Which steering wheel?

I have to agree. Like you said, it's personal preference, but I find all those undersized Grant wheels absolutely hideous, especially on an old car. Why don't you call up a wrecking yard ( like wildcatmopars.com ) and buy an original one in decent condition? Mopars with [generic] Grant wheels...

    Early A Alterktion guys...

Hey, we all make spelling mistakes, some are just funnier than others! :toothy7: I don't have too many pictures of my car, as there's not a lot to see at the moment. Sorry, they're a little blurry: I'm trying to get the ball rolling, so hopefully I'll have some more shots to post.

    Early A Alterktion guys...

With torsion bars running at $300 a pair and a stock rubber front-end rebuilt kit costing close to $400 ( not including a sway bar ), you're coming up short, and still have to spend more money on brakes unless you've already tossed the drums. By the time that you're done, you'll pay more for...

    Early A Alterktion guys...

I just by chance have my copy of Mopar Muscle open to the CAP ad right now, and yes, as abodyjoe has already said, you're paying over two grand for a spiffy looking version of the same old stuff - K-member, control arms, motor mounts and struts. Add on disc brakes, shocks, torsion bars with...

Keisler 5-speed conversion on Early A-body: Install has begun

I'll call Gene tomorrow, but I would like to know a little more about the shifter; I want to keep the handle because it is the original two-bolt Hurst unit that the car came with - but - are there some major benefits to the redesigned Keisler shifter with a big extra bend as far as comfort...

Keisler 5-speed conversion on Early A-body: Install has begun

I'm starting with a 4-speed '64 Dart GT ( factory V8 ), so it should be little different. I've been looking at the Keisler kits on their website, but I can tell that I'll need more that what their "complete" kit includes. I would like to keep my Hurst 4-speed shifter, but it looks like the one...

    New Wiring Harness

I paid him $300 including shipping. He custom copied my piece with a provision for one-wire ( internally regulated ) alternator and an electronic ignition/MSD box. The colors he used were matched to my original harness. Not concourse, but much better looking than a Painless or Ron Francis...

Update on My 64 Dart project

    What year motor?

Hey, I've got a similar annoying question, The stamp on my block reads 4M318 0908 0694. The 4 should mean that it's a 1974 block, but according to HP books', "Small-Block Mopar Engines," the date code ( 0908 ) would be pre-65. What's going on here???
