Oil pressure idiot light stays on

I kind of like the idea of the seat belt buzzer wired in for instant notification. You surely won't miss that.

Oil pressure idiot light stays on

You're all winners!! Looks like the problem might be that when the engine was pulled from my folks' old Dodge Maxivan and sent off to be rebuilt, a new sender (large can style) was installed for a gauge, not a dash light. We'll know soon enough when it gets replaced this weekend. As...

Oil pressure idiot light stays on

All throughout the break-in period and tuning on an indoor dyno, the 360 we built for my son's car maintained a solid 60-70 lbs oil pressure. Engine is now in the car and running great; however, the dash light stays constantly on. Any ideas why this is happening? I suppose I could tie-in a...

    slant six to a 360

There's also a good chance that your slant only had the 7-1/4" rear end. Adding the horsepower of a 360, you might consider swapping in a beefier rear end. You can find an 8-1/4" in some slant cars, or you can go bigger with a 8-3/4". You may also need to find a set of V8 torsion bars...

    engine squeeling noise

Do you have a mechanic's stethoscope to use in searching for the source of the sound? If not, you can use a broomstick. Press the end of a broom against the engine block, etc., place the upper end of the broom against your ear, cup your hand over the broom and your ear to isolate out external...

    Slant six to 360?

Believe it or not, you can use your slant's radiator shroud - just flip it over 180 degrees. You will need to trim just a little plastic off the bottom lip to clear the lower radiator hose, but it should fit fine. Did it on my son's slant-to-360 swap in his '74 Duster.

    Murphy's Law strikes again

All summer, yes, all summer long, we had plenty of time to deal with any problems that might crop up with my son Aaron's Dart Sport, while he was home from college. But no, it had to happen the very day he needed to leave and head back to school. Last Friday, Aaron and I loaded his trunk...

    Baffles under valve covers..

Mopar Performance sells separate baffle kits for their aluminum valve covers. Check them to see what they look like, then fab your own. As stated, drill and tap the bosses underneath.

    Slant 6 to 360 Swap

The slant six 904 won't bolt up to your small block 360. You need to find a small block 904, or possibly locate a 727. I have no opinion on crate engines, I got mine out of my parents' Dodge Maxi-van. :hello1:

Not Getting 12 Volts at Coil

Use process of elimination... Take out the ECU and electronic ignition distributor. Put in and wire it up for a points distributor. See if it will fire.

Not Getting 12 Volts at Coil

Randy, I just dug out an old distributor I had stashed and spun the shaft on it to listen for clicking you described. I believe it is probably the internal weights flying out and snapping back under spring tension. At least, that's what it sounds like to me. If you hold the rotor with one...

Not Getting 12 Volts at Coil

This is where Randy posted the plug test results earlier in this thread. I've been on the phone with him a few times, and I convinced him to buy an inline spark plug tester, so he can see the tool while cranking the engine by himself.

Not Getting 12 Volts at Coil

OK folks, now we're getting somewhere. Here's what I understand so far: The battery is charged and has good cables The ignition switch works The starter engages The neutral safety switch is connected and checks good The dual-ballast resistor is connected properly The ECU is new and has...

While we are at it tracing wires, let's look at the starter relay: A = 10ga red from +battery B = 10ga red to fusible link at bulkhead connector C = 12ga brown to starter D = 18ga brown to EGR timer E = 18ga yellow to starter interlock switch F = 20ga brown w/ yellow tracer to neutral...

Not Getting 12 Volts at Coil

Here is a pic of the ballast wiring in my '74 Duster. Randy and I have talked before, and I think his wiring is slightly different. As stated above, all the wires could be the same color, as long as their connections are correctly oriented. If his car ran for years wired as it is, there is no...

Not Getting 12 Volts at Coil

Let's stay with that logic for a second and follow it through. Switches, by definition, are used to complete or break a circuit. So, if the ignition switch is bad and won't complete the "run" circuit, is there something you can do under the hood to complete the circuit? I keep thinking...

    What is this?

    Pulling /6

If it was a matter of everything else being pulled loose and disconnected (fuel line, wiring, exhaust, radiator, etc.) you might convince me to pull the engine. But, if it's just about replacing the motor mounts and drive plate, I'm inclined to do it in-place. Jerry

    Pulling /6

There is one bolt through the transmission cross-member mount. Pull it, a handful of bolts around the bell housing, and the four drive plate bolts, then you can slide the transmission straight back. Also, make a metal bracket that bolts to the bell housing and bends inward to keep pressure...

Unless you are really wanting to pull the engine for another reason, it's much easier to pull the transmission to get at the drive plate. Just a thought.
