    Rocker arm help

I went with Hughes rocker arms, I found they had the best geometry...and cheaper than H. Sharp rockers. And I went with 340 T/A push rods (that I had sitting on my shelf), they worked out okay but a slightly shorter/custom push rod would be better. I have heard of people using the heavy duty...

Roller rocker ideas for 340 build

I opted for the Comp Cams XE275HL and Hughes rockers...the Edelbrock heads blew the budget for me. I just fired the engine up yesterday for break-in...and it sounded good. There are so many great options for cams out there...it's tough to make a decision. Paul

What and where to clean up Edelbrock RPM's?

If you go to the Edelbrock website and to their Power Package page they have the 60779 listed for 340-360 engines...so you would think any new information would be updated there. http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive_new/mc/power_package/rpm_power_packages.shtml I hope to pick up my completed...

What and where to clean up Edelbrock RPM's?

Edelbrock doesn't even like their own open chamber heads. They used their 60779 heads on a 340 and took .035 off the pistons with their Power Package according to a Mopar Muscle article I read. Paul

    build strokers or buy them

I know this will be unpopular, given the stroker craze...but... If 425-450hp is all the original poster needs/wants...why not just build up the 360 without the extra stroke and save some dough? I thought that was an easy HP goal for a 360? I am currently building up my 340 looking for...

    What cam would you buy?

I would go with a 2800-3200 stall converter, 3.91 gears...keep the 670 carb and switch to a dual-plane manifold Performer RPM (or Air Gap). Paul

    What cam would you buy?

X2...convertor and gears are what you really need. Paul

    Show me your small block!

Currently my engine is out...but here is what I had last summer. Same engine...2 different carbs...2 different air cleaners... I am changing over to aluminum heads and fabricated valve covers...so changes are coming.

    Roller Rocker geometry questions

The Crane Gold rocker arms I bought have the roller tips positioned like the original poster's rocker arms. When I put the Mopar Performance stamped rocker arms (they came on my engine to begin with) on my Edelbrock heads they line up pretty darn good. Is there a brand (or brands) or...

ARP Part Number For Edelbrock Heads?

Question? I have Edelbrock's part number (EDL-8555) for head bolts for my Edelbrock Performer RPM Heads (60779) Is there an ARP version part number? Thanks in advance, Paul

    Roller Rocker Arms...Questions...

My car is just a knock around town / going for ice cream car. I am looking at the Voodoo 60403 cam for it... Hydraulic. The most awesome 268 cam ever produced! Out-powers all others! This High Performance street cam likes 2400 RPM stall, 700 cfm carb, dual plane intake and...

    Roller Rocker Arms...Questions...

I am trying to keep it around $400 for rockers. And trying to keep at $2,000 for everything (heads, rockers & push rods). My budget on my Duster keeps getting blown...much to my wife's delight. :occasion: Paul

    Roller Rocker Arms...Questions...

I have looked at the PRW rocker arms a little bit. Stainless Steel or Aluminum? Why 1.6 and not the 1.5? I am thinking about going with those in Stainless Steel and the 1.5 ratio. Paul

    Roller Rocker Arms...Questions...

I am upgrading my 340 with Edelbrock (60779) heads and have started to look at rocker arms. I am surprised at how expensive they are. Seems like you have expensive...then you have Chinese...not much middle ground...and I don't want to cheap out on these to have them wind up in pieces inside my...

    New to V8's. 340 or 383?

For standard sized 5.5" wide wheels (steel or rally)...I would go with 215/70/14 tires. That's the largest size tire recommended for that width rim. That's what I have on my Duster to store the car in the Winter...they look tiny. I have 3.91 rear gears and the car really screams on the...

    New to V8's. 340 or 383?

This thread is a couple months old so not sure which way you have gone. But you kind of answered your own question.... Personally I would pick any good condition 318, 340, 360 or 383 that you come across for a good price...that can be rebuilt. Going from a /6 to V8 you need a bunch of stuff...

    Rhoads lifters....

I had them in a 383, and they worked great...good low end vacuum and throttle response. Mine weren't noisey, they just made a "ticking" sound, a number of people thought I had a Hemi in my car...they were surprised when I popped the hood. LOL paul

    Smoke from breathers.

71 Valiant, I hope you have better luck with that problem than I am having. My breather was smoking like 2 packs a day...the previous owner hid the blow-by problem. My Duster ran great, other than keeping the engine bay lubricated, supposedly 5K miles on a complete rebuild. Engine had great...

What kind of power needed to be in the high 10s???

I found this chart on the internet. Personally, I am rebuilding my 340 over the Winter looking for 420hp and having a 12 second car (high or low is okay with me) It shows how much horsepower is needed at the flywheel to run an Elapsed Time in the ¼ mile. This chart is under optimal...

    What to do?

I was joking about engine trades. You should drive your Duster as much as possible, with your wife if she is a factor in your decision. There still are a couple good months of weather left to decide how much you like or don't like your current set-up. The Lincoln Park Sears Friday Cruise...

    What to do?

Want to trade motors? :blob: Your engine combo interests me. I would put a FULL exhaust system on your Duster first...tailpipes and proper mufflers will make a difference...you might be surprised. I have a 2.5" Summit Racing exhaust system, compete with their mufflers on my Duster. If...
