Thanks to all that replied. Without the "positioner"/clip the larger bushing works out and caliper rattles on bolts on my car. And could bind and not let brake apply fully. The ebay site that Moparleo posted has best price. Before I bite there I might try to find something from GM that would fit.

Does anyone know where to buy 4 of these spring clips. I have searched all vendors I can think of. These are for 72 Dodge Challenger. I have found them with full caliper set, but not alone. I have used a coil spring but it will limit travel as pad wears. Thanks

Use a paint stripper to clean off old paint & then prep. I have used a Eastwood cast iron gray coating for cast iron that is looking good.

Sorry, I forgot to add that the used axle pair are 27 11/16, with bbp, 30 spline. As I said they have same shape of outer end as the 8 3/4 rear ends in our e-body cars. Maybe resplined pickup or c-body axles.

Thanks for reply 72blu. Bought used axles, not redrilled sbp. Not sure of manuf, no numbers; but same outer end shape as my other mopar 8 3/4 rears. Only cost $20 for axles, so no risk.

Best advice is to post pictures of the brakes, calipers, brackets, and rotors so that someone can identify what you have.

Those rotors/discs look pretty good, doesn't look like they need turning. Most times rotors have grooves and ridges that require them to be smoothed by turning. On the disc there is stamping/casting letters around hub that gives minimum thickness. Parts store or machine shop can measure to...

Is something holding brake pedal down. If master cyl plunger is not returning all way back it will hold some pressure and drag.

You can get a replacement booster at any auto parts store.

When you change brake shoes the thicker lining of the new shoes will push the pistons further back into the cylinder. If there is rust back there then a leak will develop. At least pull cups and pistons to check and clean out. But like abodyjoe said the new cyl. are so cheap, it's better to...

It sounds like you have wrong pad with caliper. We need pictures. The calipers two types either made with a flat on top for a tab on each end of pad, or the caliper has tapped hole for bolt that holds pad with holes in it.
