Best aftermarket intakes for an early 273?

Wrong, the D4B is aluminum as is the LD4B, both Edelbrock. The LD4B is for post 65 heads(intake bolt angle and size).

Help choose engine for my 68 Barracuda

Hey I know that car well, I would put a 340 in it that "looks" stock. That car is too original to change too much. Sure it would cost less to build the 360........but?
  4. 65Vart

    Let's put a mild 8.2:1 360 on the dyno.

275 was way under rated. That number was all buttoned up at the factory to meet the emission standards etc. and make the cars insurable. 275 at what RPM? Real numbers on these were 300-320.

    Bad Vibrations

So we fired up the "new" 340 today. Have a slight vibration at idle. My buddy who is helping me with the install automatically says its the flexplate. Its a externally balanced 340/904 combo with a neutral convertor. I ordered the right one, b&m 10235 for sure. Any ideas would be great ...

rare Edelbrock D64 intake for sale

If it fits 318s as the add states it would be a fit for for 66 and later 273 which would be a D66. A D64 will fit early 64/65 273 only with the funky bolt angle.

    65 273 Headers

Try and find some spitfires on line, shorty headers, will work great as long as your goal isn't huge HP. I was quite happy with them on my 65.

    R5/P7 Small block

Has anyone looked into this? A friend has got me wondering if I should investigate the possibilities of building one of these for may 71 Dart. Parts are cheap since dodge pulled out of NASCAR. He bought a set of heads and an intake for $900. He is building one for a Road Runner with a 750hp...

    High idle problem

Great help guys thanks. Ya, I took that picture with the choke part closed warming it up for the first time, turns out the linkage was binding slightly , enough for 500RPM. Not used to this new fangled cable bracket! loosened everything up, re tightened.....seems happy at 1000.

    High idle problem

Ya that's the first thing I did so no leaks. Ah, Seems to be a bit better now I took the mixture screws out and cleaned everything. At least I can adjust them. I'm going to change the POS fuel filter tomorrow. I love my 65 :D. My 71 is still MIA going down to see her tomorrow.

    High idle problem

Hey Scott, I checked for vacuum leaks , all seams goo there. Ill check it again though. I'm going to blow out the idle circuit, maybe some crap stuck in there.

    High idle problem

I was reluctant to post this question because I feel like an idiot but after swapping my intake I cant get this car to idle below 1500 rpm, Ive checked for vacuum leaks and it seems to be good, set the timing to where the car starts perfectly (like it did before the swap) and played with the...

    65 273 torque specs

What would be the intake bolt torque spec for a 65 273. The bolts are 5/16 NOT 3/8. is 35 lbs a bit too much?

    273 Top End Swap

From what I know its all about the heart shaped combustion chamber. The swirl port design makes HP with small ports (1.78/1.50) . The small 57cc chamber should raise compression.

    65 273 heads

Does anyone make a set of intake bolts for the 65 273 head? I believe they are smaller then 3/8 (5/16). Also I need the thermostat housing pipe fitting (to the water pump) as well as the one to the heater hose. finally installing the new" D4B intake I got 5 years ago).:blob: Where can I get...

    Best 318 heads

Thanks , 318 talk always stirs up a hornets nest. I guess its a tricky subject. These 596 heads are off a 79 318 cop motor so I am not sure compression will be an issue or not. I have an eddy performer 318/360 manifold as well as a brand new eddy 600. Cam is still up in the air but I know from...

    Best 318 heads

I never said anything about chev motors in the first place, these heads are a bolt on for 50$ they have been cleaned and magnafluxed so I figured I would play with them. Eventually a built 360 will go in the car. I have my 65 to cruise while I play with the 71.

    Best 318 heads

stock 318 with intake, carb , cam, 3:23. Just thought I would wake it up a bit for something to do , if I keep the car, probably going to spend some money and buy a real motor.
