The conical washer should only be at the outer pins. According to the partsbook there should be 4 on one engine. However, over the years I have seen 2 up to 8 conical washers. Ma Mopar!:lol:

I have both the resonators with black tip as well as stainless steel tip. Inside there is no difference. However on early mufflers it is straight thru and later 65 mufflers has a curve inside. Re those drawings I saw them a couple of years ago. The muffler could easily done but not sure about...

They were only added on the pins on each end of the exhaust manifold. A total of 4 washers for one car. But I have seen untouched cars with washers on the center bolts as well. Ma Mopar you know.

Tha exhaust system was a straight through until November of 1964. The resonator was black without stainless steel tip. They jad lots of issues from the Police due to too noicy. However Chrysler used the inventory up to February of 1965 when the "new" system was ised.

You can find them on Ebay or buy reproduced ones from Accurate! They looks great to me.

Yepp, this is the latest I bought from US. If you see the two long "valleys", they are the ones that is not present on the right side. You just drill out the two holes a little bit.

On 1965 Chrysler cars the exhaust manifolds had one model for the left side with longer valley towards the spark plugs and they were not together with each other as the 340s exhaust shield were. On the right side is the same bottom as the left side. Drill out some material from a left side heat...

It seems they are made for Dart, Valiant and Barracuda with floor shift automatic transmission only! I wonder how the early Doug's headers was produced? They are rarely seen!

I have been lucky to find a set of Spitfire headers for my 65 Dart 2 dr sedan. The car will be built with column shifted automatic ttansmission. The problem is that the rubber boot on the end is against the header pipe. Any info how other early a owners have installed Spitfire headers?

I sprayed mine with International red on a spray can. I painted the exhaust manifolds as well as the rest of the engine. When it dried up and just put the grease on the inside of the manifold. Works great! And from the outside the engine look factory correct.

That might be differences between the plants or the different lines at one plant. Nice info!

I used 1969 abody 340 manifolds for my Dart 65 with 360/727 combo. Worked out well.

I haven't heard of it. Another option is ebay and try to find a set of Doug headers. They fit without cutting. A friend of mine bought a set on a garagesale in Portland for $150. Must be a great deal. But let us know if you find Dakota hearders.

Yepp! 2 1/4 WOULD DO IT. I have that on one of my car and thats sofar the best result I coulds get.

Is there anyone out there who has a NOS muffler and the rear pipe to the resonator for a Dart, Barracuda or Valiant with 273 Commando or Charger for sale? They were all 4 bbl engines.
