You can use the tapered bearings with a spool but you have to install a piece of splined axle shaft, inside the spool, the exact length so both axles touch it. Done it many times.

A lot of old timer's in the sport claim that equal length spark plug wires do make a difference in performance. I can't see it. Opinions? Any dyno tuners out there ever test this?

If the heater box is still in it, remove it. If its was an A/C car the box is heavy. Aluminum bumper brackets as stated. Replace P/S with manual. Plastic headlamps. Aluminum wheels. Battery to the trunk.

3310 750 carbs are notoriously lean at high RPM. You may have to update that carb with a rear metering block with jets.

The car currently has 1 3/4 hoop, door bars and rear down bars. I want to add a roof hoop and A pillar down bars. Can I use 1 5/8" DOM for the add on's.?

The true center of the car is measured between the frame rails, not the body, which is very rarely the same on any two A-bodies. It sounds like he measured his center using the incorrect method and now the shocks don't line up because the rear suspension is centered between the quarter panels...

Never, ever take the measurements from the wheel well openings! I have seen up to an inch of differance side to side on many A-bodies. The center of the frame rails is the center of the car not the body.
