min clearance for headers and PS pump

I had the same problem. When idling the headers would slightly hit the steering box. I slotted the two upper bolt holes on the steering box. It tilted the box over another 1/4 in. I didn't slot the lower bolt hole. Solved my problem.

    Little 318

I built a stock compression 318 a few yrs ago. I used this cam and advanced it 2 degrees. It is very important to degree the cam. Mine was 2 degrees retarted with the cam installed straight up. Had to use a 4 degrees advance key. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-6901/ I was really...

Is this cam to much for a stock engine?

That cam is to large for a low compression engine. I used a 218@50 in my low compression 318 and advanced the cam 2 degrees an it as a lot of bottom end power and pulls hard. It has a nice lope at idle. Make sure you degree the cam in. If it is a few degrees retarded it will kill bottom end power.

    Good mild 318 build plan?

Make sure you degree the cam in. When I built my 318 last year I advanced the small cam similar to yours two degrees and this things burns the tires off. If I had installed the cam straight up it would have been retarded 2 degrees which would have killed bottem end torque.

    Small Block Advice

I changed my k member in my duster when I converted to a V8. It was a lot of work but nothing too hard. It would be easier to change the motor mounts. I was at our local dragstrip last weekend and a guy showed me how he used a 70's dodge truck mount (the metal part that bolts to the engine) on...

    318 mods?

Make sure you degree the cam in. Mine was 2 degrees retarted straight up. 318's like 3 degrees advanced past DTC. Advancing the cam really helps bottom end torque on this engine.

    degreeing small block cam

It's only important if your goal is to have a good running engine that will burn rubber. When I degreed my last sb mopar cam in it was retarted 3 degrees straight up. This would have killed bottom end torque. I used a five degree advance key and this thing burns the tires off.

    I might cry

I agree with Crackback for that much money you should get a stroker. $3600 just for the labor is a rip off. I just rebuilt a 360 and I spent about $1000. I did use the stock crank ,rods and heads and a flat tappet cam. I did put it together myself and so far I have about 2000 miles and it runs...

    Problem with Clevite bearing

Just a heads up. I rebuilt a sb a few weeks ago and ran into a problem with new Clevite Bearings. When I installed the main bearings in I just happen to notice there wasn't an oil hole drilled into one of the thrust bearing. I checked the bearings package thinking they have packaged two many...
