    pinion shims

Anyone here have a source for obtaining just shims for setting up pinion depth ? I would like to get locally, but haven't had any luck only through mail order and I'm no longer comfortable giving info over the net, Tried the various chain stores but no one stocks or can get a shim kit, only the...

    Manul valvebody

Thanks for all the replies. Years ago I had a hurst promatic shifter I bought used, only had to buy a new cable and I just put tape over the indicator because I didn't have the other indicator to show the shift indication for reverse pattern. On that shifter to go from first into reverse/park...

    Manul valvebody

Not sure where to post this, either here or the race section, but here it goes. Can a reverse pattern manual valvebody be used in a stock linkage console equipped car. I know an after market shifter can use either, but considering going with either a reverse pattern or a fwd pattern instead...

    torque convertor

Years ago I ran a pretty much stock 383 only .030 to clean up the bores and had a dynamic convertor for it and bracket raced it. It was a neutral bal. conv. This same conv. is going to be used behind a stock 360 and I just received a flexplate yesterday from century 440 on here to use this conv...

    torque convertor

Getting some different answers, from chevy guys mostly, but my thoughts are a torque convertor should respond better from an engine that produces more torque. Am I wrong in thinking this ?

    Convertor weights

Thanks, will check it out, but believe the one I need is #10236, unless this one on Moparts is an older part number.

    Convertor weights

Well, looks like I will go ahead and get the flexplate instead of the weight kit. I didn't need it to be SFI approved that's why I was looking around for a used one or asked about the weight kits. I do like the thought of being able to use the convertor without the weights for other applications...

    Convertor weights

Could've explained it better, hands got quicker typing than the brain. What I meant was I haven't had any luck in finding a used B&M flexplate but through my research I found the weight kits. Not sure of the weights, but according to applications there is different weights for different...

    Convertor weights

Has anyone on here ever welded balance weights on a neutral balance convertor to use it on an ext. bal. motor. I have a good neutral bal. I would like to use on an ext. bal. motor. I haven't had any luck on a used B&M flexplate and found weights for half the price. I have a 220 amp mig welder to...

    trans rebuild

Thanks a bunch for all the helpful hints. I have all the tools need except for the arbor press. Guess when I get to that part I can rent one or get a local shop to do that if need be. Still waiting on the kit to arrive before I tear into this thing, no hurry so will take my time to study up on...

    trans rebuild

Thanks, will search it out. I do have both tools you mentioned but I think I think I remember something about a tool to press the front drum or something to replace the clutch pack or something like that. I've heard of guys using vise grips to compress the drum to release a big snap ring, but...

    trans rebuild

Picked up a 727 and never went through one, so my questions who here has done one and any special tools needed or if so anything that can be used in place of the special tools. Been a mechanic for several years but never got into trans rebuilds, any help, experiences would be great. Sorry if...

    smallblock flexplate

Thanks moe, will checked them out. Got a little more info from this friend of mine. He said the flexplate came out of his 68 dart that had a 360 transplanted into it. When he pulled the 360 out to do some restoration work ect. He is putting in a steel crank 340 and reusing his neutral balance...

    smallblock flexplate

Thanks, I had looked up that number but came up with nothing that's why I figured it may have been changed. I don't believe it would work since it's listed for a 340 /904.

    smallblock flexplate

I have a 1975 dart 360 and would like to use my neutral balance convertor with this ext balance 360. Friend of mine has a flexplate, I haven't seen it but he had it behind a ext bal 340 or 360 he is not sure, been several years. The number on it is 10234. I can't seem to locate this number...

    gear oil for sure grip

I put a post on here about 2 weeks ago about sure grip additive. I used Valvoline 80/90 non synthetic, the bottle said no additive needed so I just used the oil. After warm up I noticed some chatter when backing up and pulling forward. Cold I never heard anything. By advise on here I added some...

    B Body rear end housing

I just did this swap middle of this summer. I removed a noisy 8 1/4 and swapped in a B body rear. What I did was checked the angle of the spring perches on the factory rear on both sides and then at the nose of that rear before removing it. I set the perches on the springs then the empty housing...

    Limited slip fluid

That maybe the case, I don't know. I trust this guy as he has his own business and has been a Mopar guy all his life and he does work for other's concerning Mopars.:D Everything is new in this center section. Rear is nice and quiet going down the track and on the return road so I don't feel...

    Limited slip fluid

Thanks, maybe that's what I will do. The gear is fresh with only those few passes on it and no street miles. That would be cheaper just adding the additive. My thoughts is maybe the gear oil doesn't have enough of the additive in it that the sure grip requires.

    Limited slip fluid

I don't know, I got 3 1/4 mile passes and 3 1/8 mile passes on it with hoosier dot slicks. Noticed it pulling from the trailer on the grass heading to the lanes and also on the blacktop turning into the lanes. Did my burnouts fine with no noise. Years ago I had a D150 2 wheel drive pick up that...

    Limited slip fluid

I took the center section to him to rebuild, so no way to fill it. The 8/34 housing was drilled and tapped for a drain plug so that's a plus. Will check out the recommended additive at the dealers, have 2 local , both Ford and Mopar. Didn't know if anyone had used an aftermarket additive with...

    Limited slip fluid

Made some passes on a rebuilt 742 case and used the Valvoline 80/90 gear oil that states that it has the limited slip additive in it. I made 6 passes and noticed last weekend that I'm getting clutch chatter when backing up and pulling forward in slight turns. The diff was set up by a local known...

    3.91 to 3.55

Poisendart74, I checked out that link, was pretty cool. I ran the different gears ect and not much of a difference at the different speeds enough to change out the center sections. Thanks that link was cool.

    3.91 to 3.55

Haven't had the chance to get to the track yet. I wondered if someone could give me an idea if the would be much change in in RPM'S from going from a 39' to a 3.55 gears. I have two tire choices that I will use. One being a street tire and another a Hoosier quick time tire. Check the diameter...

    Swapping to an 8.75 suregrip

branded 209, check my post days ago. Member's here helped me with my questions on my sure grip with is the clutch type 742 case. Tapperd bearings are still available. I just replaced mine this week. Cheapest place I found was Advance. Just over $40.00 for the pair. Bearing and collar, Nationals...

    8/34

Thanks, about an hr. ago I ordered a kit to install. I should have them by the end of the week. Glad they are still available, after inquiring here I'm sure the previous owner must have used the green bearing type of axles since the buttons were missing, never thought to ask. I want to stay with...

    8/34

Thanks, yes it is the clutch type so all I have to do is get the button kit. I was wondering about the peening once the buttons are in and the pin is installed. I gave it a little thought and to peen the one end of the pin the opposite axle would have to be installed I figure to prevent the pin...
