    Aluminum cylinder heads

Are there some of these aftermarket heads where you have to notch the block for valve clearance? That might be a factor in deciding which one as well.

    906 heads ported?

Yeah ok. I have some ported (allegedly) 452's on the cuda atm but there is a chunk missing out of where the rocker cover sits and they always leak. PITA to get to seal and have to redress it every so often.

    906 heads ported?

Yeah for sure. I have another set of 440 source heads for a 400 stroker build in the Charger but thinking of changing to the Trickflows for that one and put the Source heads on the 383 in the Cuda.

    906 heads ported?

How can I tell if the '906 heads I have are ported? The metal seems a bit thin between the ports. Any measurements I can take?

Advice small block K frame with Schumacher conversion mounts for a big block

I did a 383 in My '69 Cuda convertible, great upgrade from the 360, more torque. I added a Schumacher torque strap to the front of the motor as well. I definitely wish I had taken the cross member out and installed from the bottom. If you go to put it in and it doesn't fit, like I had to do a...

My 2 cents - drop the K member and mount engine to K member first. Shove it under the car and bolt it in, lowering the body onto it. I did a 69 Cuda. Wish I did it that way for what it was worth. Looks easy doing it the other way but don't be fooled.

Awesome work. Another step closer for guys to run proper fuel injection systems. Where does the sensor mount by the way?

    Which gasket set?

I did a search for info on which gaskets are best, with a variety of results. What I want to know is which gasket set is best value for money? I'm looking for a complete kit with the new valley pan and intake manifold gaskets. I'm not looking for anything super special like copper head gaskets...

    Big Block headaches

This is actually the new pump finished and installed. Originally when I installed the big block I did put a shim on the engine mount and there is a "small" amount of clearance. I'm wondering if it would have been better to re-install the original /6 spool mount K member and if that would have...

Dude, I'm closer to the true magnetic north than you are. Remember in science class, opposite poles attract.... You guys are actually upside down. Check your sink as well when you pull the plug. Which way does the water swirl around? :)

    Big Block headaches

I already had a small block in the car previously and upgraded to the big block. The car was originally a /6 car and the previous owner used post 73 cross member for the V8 conversion, all I had to do was notch it out when I put the big block in. I used the Schumacher mounts and it was pretty...

    Big Block headaches

An oil pump is easy to change??? In a A body??? Are you serious?? I had to jack the car up and put it on an axle stand, disconnect the headers, undo the engine mounts, jack the motor up with 2 different jacks, take off the bottom radiator hose, take off the engine torque strap... several grazed...

    Big Block headaches

Note to self: If you don't know the condition of the acillaries on the outside of the block then just change them out. So far after putting the 383 in the Cuda, I've had to change out the intake manifold gaskets, the rocker cover gakets, the fuel pump and now the oil pump. The first three...

    valve cover clearance

Hey famous Bob. Chrysler Australia also had another 4bbl carb option which was a whole second slower over the quarter mile compared to the weber carb option, go figure. But that's not what this thread was about.

    valve cover clearance

I spoke with one of the local mopar guys here who said when they put the triple webers on the six cylinder hemi's here, they use a fan motor out of a 68-69 VG Valiant which is an internal fan. A direct bolt in replacement as I'm led to believe. They are the aussie version of the 68-69 Dart's...

    valve cover clearance

It's a lot better on the booster side, got about 9/16". But the fan motor is right up against the valave cover so it looks like I'll be pullin' the heater box out to do the fan motor mod. It doesn't need too much more clearance though. I like the valve cover mod though, nice work.

    valve cover clearance

I had some old pressed tin chrome plated valve covers and just replaced them today with MP ones and found the same problem. Although I'm wondering if the whole motor is even in the right position now??

    engine alignment problem

Just been down this road myself. :banghead: I suspect that the trans mount or the K member aren't what I thought. My car was originally a slant 6 car and someone has fitted a V8 K member but out of what, I don't know. I don't think it was an A body K member somehow. I also suspected a different...
