    Need advice. Remove K frame?

Back end on car ramps, made a dolly that cradles the oil pan and supports the k frame out of 2x4’s and caster wheels. Lowered the engine/trans/k frame on the dolly using the cherry picker, lifted the front of the car. Easy-peasy I did use ratchet straps to secure the rear wheels to the ramps

    Load Leveling Coil Over Shocks

Just took them off my Duster. Rode rougher than hell, I swear the back end felt like it went airborne when I hit a good bump.

How big a torsion bar nick is ok?

Found them in my garage, didn't even know I had them. Cleaned them up to sell them and found this. Not going to sell them to someone if there is the possibility of them failing on someone. Thanks

Do I need new leaf springs?

70 Duster has coilover shocks in back. I upgraded to Bilstins. To me in now looks like the springs are too flat. Take a look, were the coil overs a bandaid covering worn out springs?

    Dust covers on Bilsteins

Ordered new Bilstins shocks, 70 Duster. The fronts come without dust covers. Is this normal? My only option is those corrugated type ones which I don’t like. The 4wd guys go without, claim they trap dirt/mud. I won’t be driving in mud though. Are the dust covers necessary?

    Steering

I did the whole shaft. Someone had one complete with the coupler, was not collapsed so just like from the factory. I also put a bearing at the bottom of the column since it was apart. Thread on that here somewhere.

    Steering

I went manual to a Firmfeel stage 2. Especially with the 4 speed I’d do it again. 14 inch Grant steering wheel. I got a p/s shaft from someone here and put that in my column so had the coupler. Someone here may trade or sell one cheap. Pump and other stuff from rockauto. Brackets from...

I got the Firmfeel stage 2. Although I like it, I wouldn’t hesitate to go stage 3. I had manual steering so can’t compare it to stock

1970 Dart Steering Column Disassembly - Help Needed

I'm away from home so can't look at mine, and have a floor shift so it may be different. So maybe someone else will chime in but is that gap normal? Looking at the second pic in your first post it looks like there is a space there, and I think mine has a gap there also.

1970 Dart Steering Column Disassembly - Help Needed

I took a big washer that fit over the steering shaft, drilled 3 holes aligned with the holes in the housing. About 2 1/2-3 inch bolts through the washer into the housing. Then used a gear puller hooked to on the washer, it gave the puller something to grab onto and pulled it out smooth and straight.

    Manual steering to power

Did my 70 Duster a couple years ago, your on the right track. Got a ps shaft from someone here, was easy to install in the 4 spd on the floor column. Exhaust manifold had to come off to get the box in. I put in a firm feel stage 2 box, a stage 3 wouldn't be bad either. Also I installed the...

    LCA wore out?

Found the video, interesting. Don't think I can cut the welds on the reinforcing plate, but may cut a slot down the middle, press it together in a vise and weld it back up. Should do the same thing. Thanks for the idea!

    LCA wore out?

I just finished welding on reinforcement plates on my LCA (70 Duster), pressing in new bushings and grease-able piviot pins. I stepped back to admire my work and noticed that one seems a little wider than the other. In addition, the wider one has about 3/16 movement in it, while the other has...

    wheel studs

Need to replace some front wheel studs, still have left hand thread on the left side. Is there any benefit to going from 7/16 to 1/2 inch on the front other than the lug nuts all the way around will then be the same?

    Converting to manual steering..Confused

Enough people want to go from manual to power I am sure you could do a trade with the shafts. Very easy to replace the shaft. I went to power from manual going with a Firmfeel ps box and did this.

Steering wheel clocked way off after new box install

I recently put a Grant wheel on my 70 Duster. Although the wheel went on the adapter one way, the adapter wasn't clocked to the steering shaft. You could adjust it one spline at a time. Took a little trial and error to have the front wheels straight, put the adapter on correctly then the...

    Sway bar bushing help!!

Been a couple years since I did mine but I don't remember it being to bad. Drilled/cut the old ones out, greased up the bar and slid the poly bushing to the mount. Used a big tongue and groove pliers and popped the bushings in. Grease the hell out of it. I had PST bushings.

    power steering high pressure adapter

Yep, that's the part I couldn't find. I also tried a place locally that sold/made high pressure hose, and they had some that were close but not quite right. I hope you have better luck than I did!

I ran into the same issue... Damaged threads and couldn't find one anywhere. Got one from Dick at Firmfeel. Was pricey as I recall but apparently not a common part.

    Steering shaft lenght Manual

This is a 70 Duster manual steering shaft. Not sure if it is the same as what you would have. This is with the coupling pulled to make it as short as possible, there is 1 inch from end of coupling to end of shaft like this. Hope this helps.
