Given you said this, I was thinking you were inquiring about a B body rear. As mentioned above they did make A body 8 3/4 rears.

I used a 70 and up B body rear because that's what I had. Completely rebuilt it, added a suregrip unit, and moved the perches in 1/2 inch on each end. This is in my 74 Dart Sport, 15x10 inch wheels with a 5.5 inch backspace.

I can't imagine it would make much of a difference as the runners are already separate, so to speak.

Dave may have hit on something here with the lines. Eelco, how old are the rubber lines? Is the one back by the tank possibly collapsing inside if it's old?
