Have a bent frame. Looking for knowledge on the subject.

I think the ripples you are seeing in the top pics are just the result of the factory stamping process in creating a large 'U'-shape. If those indeed would be collision ripples, why is (appears) the top 'plate' of the frame still straight?

Need Help with Vinyl Roof Disease on '72 Scamp

If changing the car to a convertible is even considered and found do-able, IMO adding proper reinforcements to the lower end of the car would seem the least of the possible issues to be encountered.

Need Help with Vinyl Roof Disease on '72 Scamp

That rear window panel and the surrounding sides were toast on my '73 Dart too. A good friend of mine helped greatly with welding-in rustfree panels. This was 7 years ago. I applied a new vinyl top because I got it with the car when I bought it, but as a result of that (lack of prep/proper...

Need Help with Vinyl Roof Disease on '72 Scamp

If my roof looked that bad I would (go through the trouble to) make a convertible out of it.

    Shaving drip rails

I wondering about structural stability. Where exactly is the roof panel attached to on the inner structure after the driprails are ground down? Without having ever seen these parts apart I would think the driprails function as weld area for the roofpanel and inner side structures.

    Wrangler Head Lights?

...and 40 years of old wiring. Every old car benefits from taking electrical load of old wiring and with headlights it's Battery, Fuse, Relay, Headlight.... Instead from full current going through the firewall and bulkhead connector and headlight switch as well.

    Vinyl wrap roof

I will vinyl wrap the roof of my '73 Dart if the current vinyl isn't savable for underneath rustrepair.

    1970 Dodge Dart Roof Replacement

    Hire a big *** crane, tie it to the roof and yank it up. If it pops loose you're done, if not, you got more work to do. Here's at least one picture in this topic;

    Callout decal, where ?

Looking at the factory brochures; the vertical 'stick' coming out of the '4', is pointing pretty much towards the driverside marker light on the side. That should help lining it up on the hood imo.

Help! How much space gained by rolling fender lips on '70 Dart?

Rolling the fenderlip won't help. Whenever the body moves downward on bumps, the inner fender will contact the tire. Remove the tire and look up to the inner fender. There's an annoying ridge that will contact the tire. The proper fix is to move and reweld the center of the wheels for more...

    Those pesky lower quarters.

IMO, a lot of rust issues will start because of gobs of factory body shutz landed between the quarter and inner panel. On my own Dart and a cut out replacement piece from a dry AZ parts car showed a few gobs of hardened factory gunk wedged behind the quarters. I was able to hack away a large...

Fiberglass bumper install ( over engineered)

Silver painted bumpers shout 'CHEAP PLASTIC'. I would look into chrome wrapping them. I've wrapped a pair of large taillite housings on a car of mine and no one could tell they were chrome wrapped until I pointed it out. Nice work though!

(Modern) wiperblades that still work at 70+mph

The wipers are lifting indeed. My Dart doesn't seem to have J-arms. It has what they call bayonet-style arms I believe. It's a '73. Don't know if these are stock or not.

    How to make torque boxes

I'm all for doing things yourself and I'm no structural engineer, but I'll be a critic here and say I don't think the way the plates are installed do any good in reinforcing the area. The plates/boxes imo should've been installed more upwards, as from the bottom of frame up to where the...

any tips on cleaning out the cowl?

Painting car seperately, will there be color difference?

With metallic paint, just make sure you paint it hanging the way it's mounted on the car. So fi, don't hang the doors upright. Don't think it doesn't matter much when painting non-metallics.

    Painted bumpers

Painting them silver makes them look like made in China- plastic. Nice enough for a dragracer perhaps but imo it looks cheap on a driver. Try chrome wrapping them. The bumpers don't have difficult shapes.

    Electric power steering anyone?

I've recently bought an electric powersteeringpump from a Toyota MR2. It's about the size of the stock starter. You can just about mount this thing anywhere you want under the hood like in a fender or below the battery-tray. The only challenging part is how to 'intelligently' control the...
