    8-3/4 Vs Dana60 Vs 9" Rear

Everything everyone has said about the 9" taking away more power then a Dana has been the exact opposite of what I have heard in the pass. But maybe the person that told me was confused or something and passed me a bad apple. I have to agree with Ace here. An 8 3/4 well built will handle your...

    Gear Vendors Anyone?

What stall would be a good number to have when using a gear vendors unit? How about what type of engine? Low-band torque monster or just about a square motor with like 400hp and 400tq?

    rearend gears

When me and a friend finished putting a Ford 9 inch in his Camaro and had to break it in we did the same thing Kim said. But about after 100miles of that it gets on your nerves. We shut her down and took her for a ride on the interstate going about 50-60mph between 12-4 AM. To this date after...

    904 vs 727

I dont mean to knock on anyone but for this I would just go for whatever you could find first. They both are great tranmissions and for only 455hp, neither would take much money to build to a point that you would never have a worry. Also never beat your transmission up, such as waiting till the...

    Auto vs. Manual (Debate)

Automatic all the way in drag racing, road racing you need a clutch though. I have a 5 speed and its great out here in the country but I hate driving it in the city. Cool factor is a plus but I got the truck because it had granny gear first gear which makes towing and working out in the field...

    727 Push-button trans...

Anyone know of what you can do to these or anyone I can call or email for info? Got a 727 trans that is originally out of a 63 Chrysler 300 but I would like to build the trans for drag racing, is it possible? Thanks guys!

Sorry guys Dont shoot me! F@#D 9" to my Valiant.

I agree with Sid the 8 3/4s are becoming very hard to find around my area. It took me well almost a year to find one for my Dart, even though I may have to put a Dana 60 in, depending on torque out put. Go with the 9 inch, and we wont bust your chops on using a F*rd product just get the Dart on...

Sorry guys Dont shoot me! F@#D 9" to my Valiant.

I say go with the 9 inch and the suspension mods you want, I think it would be cool to see it done. Ford 9 inches do have that bad thing about them and losing 5 % power through them, however they are very strong if built right and not as heavy as a Dana 60 I believe.

Gear ratio / RPMs at speed

2shelbys, I have problems trying to find it as well sometimes so I know how you feel. TimDart, I dont know what the problem is with your car so I cant help you there. But that wedsite is only calculating a relative RPM at which your car would run, it can be off as lead69 said.

Gear ratio / RPMs at speed

http://www.bigblockdart.com/techpages/speedtire.shtml This is a good website and should help you out a bit. I am putting a 383 in my 73 Dart but not sure about the trans yet.

    Beefing up a 727 trans!

Well dang just phone each other why dont you two! Just playing around but anyways, we been talking about 700 horsepower handling transmissions but what about a 500 horsepower one in about 3000 or 3200 lbs car? Now dont get me wrong, I love horsepower and the shear sound of it but the cops in my...

    Beefing up a 727 trans!

Lol... Guitar Jones your a good guy. My auto teacher in high school is certified to work on almost everything and he has done alot of 727 trans rebuilds and I think i am going to haul it up to the shop and just work on it at school. Plus he use to be the transmission guy at a Chevy dealership...

    Beefing up a 727 trans!

Now where did I see that before... oh yes, a Mustang trying to outrun a tuner. Ok here is plain and simple of what I want in my transmission: reverse manual valve body, strong, maybe trans brake, wont blow up, and most importantly cheap (not looking to spend 2000 on a trans). So we got TCI...

    Beefing up a 727 trans!

Mmmm. I was actually wondering the same thing at one time. So what have you done to your 904 trans? Since you have a 904 can you tell me the big difference between it and a 727 by the way? Thanks !

    Beefing up a 727 trans!

Also... which transmisson from Cope Racing would you recommend for my project? 73 Dart Swinger (-3000lbs) 383 big block (stroked to 431) and 8 3/4 rear end. Would the Pro Race work?

    Beefing up a 727 trans!

What about ATI racing transmissons? Looked at their selection and it isnt bad at all. $922 dollars for a 727 or 904 trans with reverse manual valve body or $1542 for the same thing but with a trans brake. By the way... what is the difference between a 727 and 904. I heard that the 904 is lighter...

    Beefing up a 727 trans!

170? You mind holding it a while for me. If you dont want to hold it then that is fine its all up to you Reddishdsb. I was thinking about that Dusterb318. What would a manual reverse with trans brake run me from TCI or someone else?

    Beefing up a 727 trans!

Ouch... Trying to break my lil piggy bank on the drum I see! well 1500 dollars for it all seems alot better than only 900 some for an aluminum drum. Thanks anyways!

    Beefing up a 727 trans!

Well thanks guys. Ramcharger... any idea how much all together the parts would be for your application you told me about. My feet and ankles arent worth a crap in my opinion since I have flat feet that give me more back problems then a horse dacing on my back would. But my car is so I will go...

    Beefing up a 727 trans!

Hey guys and gals I am back and hoping all over here again so here the problem is. I recently got a 727 trans from a huge deal I made. Its a big block trans that came witht he 383 I bought from a 63 Chrysler 300. My question is how would I change things or get things that would make the 727...

    727 transmission questions...

Ok thank you for the tips but do you have a price range for the items listed? Or the time of the re-build. I am a pretty good person with tools and directions so just give me the average build time on a transmission like that. Thank you for the tips and items and ideas !

    727 transmission questions...

I am wondering what all would I have to do to my 727 trans to make it handle 450-550 hp. Would I have to put in a reverse valve body or any major mods? The trans already has an older B&M shift kit in it from what the former owner told me. Anyways any help on this would be useful so thank you all...

    8 3/4 vs Dana 60

Ok thank you all. I was thinking of just using the Dana 60 because I already have it and all so why buy a new one you know. The car only has the 7 1/4 and I wouldn't even try to put 250 horsepower on that hahaha. Well thank you all again and I will keep u up dated with pictures and forums on the...
