Hello, on a 99 durango the tailshaft housing gasket is leaking. can the tail shaft housing be removed and a new gasket installed like on a 727??????

if you use a 60s model, upgrade to a 5 clutch disc, and a 4 clutch..tf2 kit, good TC and govenor, the low gear set works decent with 3.23 gears..but but the time you purchace the parts to change your over, miht as well buy a late 70s with the ow gear and 5/4 clutch packs already in it..

i wouldnt use the early ones, id try to get a later yr,non lock up trans.. a-999/998 trans.. then id upgrade to the lower 1st gears set..

dex is slipperier, type f is stickyer more friction modifyers, in the old days the clutch mat was different between ford and gm/mopar. shift kits recomended type f in mopars and gms.. now it isnt needed dex will be fine in your HP trans.. I have used both in my trans.. and really didnt notice...

I want to make sure its right to oem specs, and if it helps maybe increase the psi like we use to do in the old 904/727 to improve shift quality.. not looking for shifts with a bang.. just a slight increase..

oh another route is find a 200r trans.. its smaller and i think it can be built to handle the HP you want. and it doesnt have the ratio jump from 1st to 2nd like the 4L60s and 700rs the 200s were behind the grand nationals as well

wouldnt it be easier to use a late 700r4? (4L60) basically the same thing with-out the electronics the 4L60E uses? I would love to have an OD in my mopar with out all $$$ or cutting up my floor board..

ok let me ask you this, if this was a mopar trans would go with oem clutches or the better high energy type clutches..

thanks the kit i ordered has the HE clutches (4l60e)for the 3-4, also it has the vette servo, larger bost valve, pluss i orderend the VB correction kit and the beast. I will keep the cheapo 700r4 kit for another day..

if you can read a manual, or even get a vid the 904s are simple.. you can make the tools to take the cluch packs apart ect.. go to scribs.com and look for a online manual or purchace a vid.. the vids are pretty kool IMO.. the 904 is simular to the 727, even the phord trans are simular..

as red fish mentioned watch for diff offsets, i have the phord 8.8 for my dakota, so im not sure of the dart width, but 8.8s come in small vans, exps, rangers ect.. the 8.8 from the exp is a little narrower then the dak, witch will give me 5 on 4.5 and a different wheel backspacing.. not sure...
