Moving, going to need to build a garage

You are in just about the same boat as me. And want just about the same thing as me. First off, I have a two acre yard. But I would think this would apply to anybody wanting to run a lift, GOOD Mig welder, and a large compressor. I am figuring about three to four grand for the welder and...

    Mitutoyo Measuring Equipment

I had always thought starrett was the cats meow. I was wrong. I always though Mitutoyo was junk. Again I was wrong. I just bought a Mitutoyo dial bore indicator to go with my safe queen tools. Check out this site. http://longislandindicator.com/ LOTS of info. I decided on going with a...

Help, I need to buy a torque wrench

I use this for most smaller stuff like intake bolts and water pump bolts: http://www.seekonk.com/prod-24-1-105/.htm And a beam type for heads, main bolts and other larger stuff. Also, best to torque rod bolts by bolt stretch if possible.

    Starret 452 Cylinder Gauge Question

I want to get one, but its gonna have to be used. Cant afford a new one. Not gonna pay for a new one if I did have the money. What is the difference between a 452 B and a 452 E? Is there anything I should look for or watch out for when getting one? I will most likely get it online so I wont...

    lowes Kobalt tools

I like the Kobalt tools at lowes, simply because its close to my house and you can get individual sockets for cheap. I also have their hollow ground screwdriver bit set with the driver, and its excellent. Best tool I have for my pistols and rifles. Great for car interiors also. Their spline...

    soldering iron

Here is my rig. I have an orange 20 watt weller, and a handfull of new tips. Using a tip once its worn out kills irons. For large stuff, I went to harbor freight and got a soldering gun for twenty bucks. Use that for the heavier stuff that doesnt allow the small gun to heat up the metal...

A welder for the trailer park driveway project.

OK, I need a Mig welder. I dont know how to tig and dont really need it at the moment. What I am going to be doing is welding in subframe connectors, floorpans, suspension gussets. That sort of thing. If I need a good strong weld, I plan on tacking and then bringing to a welding shop to do...

    Timing lights

I like those old chrome craftsman lights. The ones with the gold letters on the back. I dont like adjustable time back lights. I prefer a tach with alligator clips for a quick hookup under the hood, more uses with that. And the cheap sams timing mark mod on the balancer with a sharpie or...

    Short people

My main squeeze is 5'1", Im 6 foot. She is in on the summer project of getting the ole dart on the road. I can finally get her in some heels! Cool! All joking aside, you can let the air out the tires if your gonna be working on it awhile and have a compressor. Itll make some difference. OR...

    Want a GOOD creeper

There are some things to consider when buying a creeper other than the build quality and brand. What surface are you going to be working on? Crummy surface with lots of uneven edges and such, you dont want a creeper with small casters. Dogbone creepers are pretty good for this one, at least...

    Toolbox Pics

I dont think craftsman makes that top box anymore. If its not rollerbearing I dont think they make it. I know the non roller one was a beast. It was a good box that my friend used working on heavy equipment. When I was working for John Deere you couldnt have an expensive box to carry out in...
