    PST tubular UCA too long??

Did you bounce the front end or roll car back and forward to allow things to settle after the adjustments? Only thing I can add to the conversation.

    Crabbing

Kent they don’t have to be a perfect fit as long as they aren’t sloppy sloppy. When you welded the perches to your housing I don’t know how you measured so was throwing out what I did. As stated earlier shims at the front leaf hangers between the bracket and frame may do what’s needed. My...

    Crabbing

This needs remedied as it will not hold the axle in position, 1/16 each side could be an 1/8 of movement total. Then you can start measuring. When I set up the rear of my Demon, with the springs relocated to frame, I leveled the car with the rear axle on jack stands no wheels. I dropped a plumb...

    16:1 manual w/fast arm

I have the flaming river box in my Demon. Standard arm. It’s not real lite if not moving but I love the feel driving. I’m running 6” wide front tires. The responsiveness on the road is nice.

Front end rebuild 65 Dart GT

It’s a job. I just finished up my dads 67 coronet today. I removed the torsion bars by removing the retaining clip at the back and using a brass hammer and loosening the pivot pin nut but leaving it flush with pin threads, I tapped the lower control arm and torsion bar back. Didn’t take much...

    LCA stiffener plates-why not?

There is a “tie” by the torsion bar socket that you can cut to tighten up the clearances to the adjuster if they are sloppy there too. Look up Jim Lusk on YouTube. He’s also a member here and it will show what I’m referring to.

    Steering coupler basic questions

Steering Coupler Rebuild "How To" Nice write up. Also the FSM does give a measurement on the steering “shaft” engagement into the coupling housing. That’s why the mounts under dash are slotted. Too far in and the shoes will bottom and bind. Too far out and it will pop the seal/retainer and...

Setting ride height on new suspension.

You may want to take the weight off of the tires if you are adjusting the height up. I did not and had no issues, but I’ve seen adjusters stripped when loaded with vehicle weight on them. But yes car all together. And don’t have the pivot pins sloppy loose but loose. As far as where you set...

Setting ride height on new suspension.

When I did mine I set it by the manual. Same as what you’re doing. I had the car all together including interior. Left pivot pins loose til it was set. Then torqued them. When I had the alignment done I asked them to double check and provided the specs as well as how to measure. Figured being on...

What chassis mods will I need on 440 conversion

Frame ties, preferably the ones that weld in full length to floor pans and torque boxes (as posted in link rumblefish gave) in my opinion. This would take part of the load off the rockers, and help transfer the loading from sub frame to sub frame, especially with a sticky tire.

    Pivot pin sleeves seized

If you’re going to replace with oem style, the inner sleeve will come with the bushings, the rubber is bonded to the inner sleeve and outer housing. I take a 3lb mini sledge hammer and using the flat on the back of my vice smack the devil out of the sleeve on the pin, roll pin and repeat. It...

    Scary steering shaft/coupler failure!

I don’t have my fsm available but there is an adjustment procedure in it to ensure the coupler shoes are properly engaged depth wise in the coupler housing. I don’t remember specifics. If they’re engaged too far it can cause binding as they will bottom out. If they’re not engaged far enough I...

Plymouth Duster Suspension/Tubbing Question - Drag Racing

The mini tubs move the inside of the wheel tub to the frame rail, this typically adds about 3” to the depth of the wheel well tub from the outer fender. By moving the leaf springs in to the frame rail and not mini tubbing you really don’t utilize all the available room created by moving the...

    Reference points

I dropped a plumb bob off the torsion bar cross member sockets, centered the string on the socket itself. Car needs to be level. For the rear end I did the same off the hub then measured front to back each side and Cross ways lt to rt and rt to lt. My purpose was to position the rear housing...

    Flattened a leaf.

Wasn’t trying to muddy the waters, just trying to learn something. To me the body torque is going to flatten the passenger spring drivers side will arch. But as stated just trying to learn.

    Flattened a leaf.

I was looking at the passenger side in this photo. If you look at the area the large washer rides and where the roller travels to on it’s “rail” they both look close to bottoming in the travel. That’s why I had thought maybe the drivers side had bottomed.

    Flattened a leaf.

I’m betting the slider made hard contact on the end of the slot in the housing. I’m thinking when you disconnect the bolt you’ll see contact indication. When I researched installing the sliders it was recommended to have the bushing bolt biased about 3/4 of the way to the back of the slot. Out...

Rear end alignment issue 1969 cuda

Has the car been converted to disc brakes? The discs on the front will give the illusion of dog tracking due to the wider track on the front. There was a TSB on here that someone posted. The tire being closer to the wheel opening isn’t that uncommon either. There’s variances between the...

Hello Bob. If you don’t have one get a manual here Free service manuals There is a small roller bearing in the top part of the column. To get to it you have to disassemble most of the column. Mine had all kinds of crud in the bearing when I tore it down to redo it. It could also be in the...

What is going on with my springs

Nice looking car. The front quarter lip is normally the clearance issue area. I understand about the upper lip as well. Are there multiple holes in the spring front bracket? I know on my Demon there are 3 mount holes in the front bracket and moving the mount bolt up or down makes a pretty...

    Wheel bearing situation

Before you install the inner bearing into the hub, slide it over the spindle to make sure it will fit without forceing it. New Moog k408 UCA bushings question

Some bushing kits come with the "end pieces" separate and you have to install them into the bushing. If they weren't in the box with the bushings it sounds like you didn't get all the components. You need to call and let them know.
