What to do with my gas tank?

The only reason for this tank pad is to stop noise and prevent squeeks. I restored a 1960 Chevy Impala many years ago and the original tank had a similar pad to the ones on our Mopars. I didn't reinstall the tank pad when I installed the gas tank, and it made noise especially when the tank was...

Throttle cable and carb gasket/spacer questions

There should be a rubber thing along with the C clip if I remember right. Rubber part would act as a grommet.

You're gonna need a set of deep gears for that tunnel ram to work right if it's a street car, too.

    carb suggestion for 440ci

Your buddy is recommending a Rochester carb or a Carter. Either are as good as a Holley. With a 4 speed trans, my recommendation is a Holley 4150 series double pumper carb. You can see them on Holly's website www.holley.com In my opinion the Holley is easiest to tune, but others opinions may...

    "Factory" vacuum leak???

I bet the piston in the carb has been removed and allowing too much air into the choke housing causing the arratic idle. Now, having said that, is the OP absolutely SURE there are no other vacuum leaks on the engine? Is the PCV valve the correct one for the engine? Are the correct heat range...

    Carter AVS Question?

I just looked in my box-O-carb parts, but I don't have a pull-off for you. Call a NAPA store later and see if they can get one for you. I would imagine that part would have several applications for AVS and AFB. If you strike out, call a Corvette restoration parts supplier as they may have...

    Carter AVS Question?

The name of the part for the choke is usually called a "Choke Pull Off", and it's function is to partially open the choke butterfly once the engine starts. Without it, the choke butterfly will remain fully closed and the engine will stall. Once the engine is warmed up, the choke will be fully...

    gas tank filler neck issues

How many holes are in the quarter panel for the screws? If there's 3 holes there, you could use a Tinnerman clip (J clip) on the filler tube and then install the tube fron the trunk side. The clips will give the screws something to thread into. I don't know how it was originall set up from the...

    Motorhome carb size?

I really don't know the answer to that question, sorry. I do know that the stock Mopar intake isn't going to make good power with a spreadbore carb as the bores aren't the same, and the adaptor will KILL performance. It will, however, make a LOT of torque on a stock Chevy iron intake. If you...

    Motorhome carb size?

Quadrajet carbs came in many different CFM sizes so I wouldn't say for sure it is a 750 Carb, unless you have some evidence. My experience with a Holley 650 Spreadbore replacement carb has been very positive. They are an exact fit replacement so the fuel inlet, throttle attachment etc are...

    69 340 AVS fuel leak

I took the carb off and sent it to PA for a rebuild. It was all hooked up and appeared to be connected properly from what I could tell when I took it off. The new gasket kit (specific to the 4612S carb for a 340/727) contained the thick spacer gasket. This gasket is about 5/16"-3/8" thick, and...

    69 340 AVS fuel leak

Maybe that gasket set up is part of the problem? My 69 340 with a 4612S AVS carb has a thick spacer type gasket under the carb. I bet that thing is to isolate the carb from the manifold heat. Might be worth a try. Good Luck, George

    Done buisness with Gastanks.com???????

Quanta gas tanks are really big in the Corvette hobby. They have been in business for a long time, with a good reputation, and are the accepted standard replacement fuel tank for the guys that are chasing NCRS scoring points. I would not hesitate to buy anything from that company. George...
