Don't get too deep in the motor buddy! Just reseal it, and paint it. The fluid leaks usually keep the undercarriage free from rust! LOL I know it did on my gold car. Can't wait to see this car someday. If you need any help, please ask. George

They were galvanized, but if your car received the undercoating, there's usually some of it on both sides of the tank. If you choose to leave it natural, coat it with a matte clear or it will rust, unless the factory galvanizing is still in good shape. That car looks awesome, by the way...
