    2.5 to 3.0 Exhaust

Except for Mike's #36 post, nobody has mentioned fit. It's hard enough getting by trans crossmember, shocks, gas tank, frame trails, etc. with 2-1/2 without rattles. You'll never feel the difference with 3" behind a stock 360. Then there's the guys who do it mostly for bragging rights. Another...

    65 barracuda exhaust

I would do it. You may have to shorten one of the pipes per side because of the shorter 65 wheelbase. Gotta clear the fuel tank so I'd work from the bend over the axle and work forward adjusting as needed.

    What would you do?

B with inexpensive Pypes kit. Also look here: http://waldronexhaust.com/cart/index.php?cPath=61_36_125 FWIW, the hi-po manifolds are only good for 5 hp at most. Not worth the expense in my opinion for your intended use. Nice car!

    Shipping Damage New Headers

Which store is it going back to? I get to the original store in Barberton (Akron) a few times a year. My first stop is always the closeout/return aisle. A lot of the returned or damaged stuff is shrink wrapped and piled up on the floor or racks with huge discounts. Sometimes 10 cents on the...

Slant six 2 1/4" exhaust questions.

Dynomax or Summit Super Turbo. This is one of those questions where if you ask 10 people you'll get 10 different answers. This was a recent topic in the Slant 6 section.

Help! Doug's headers in 67 barracuda

I know this thread is about Dougs, but TTI says the Borgeson mounting holes must be elongated to .81 inches so the steering box can be moved away from the engine. This is for G3 Hemi swaps in A-bodies but could work here (Note #12 in their fitment notes). Also some guys elongate the holes in the...

    1967 273 Manifold Headpipe size/style

I bought a 67 273-4 Barracuda in 1969. The head pipe was a 2 into1 arrangement that merged into a larger pipe that led back to the muffler and the back to the resonator. I converted to dual exhaust by cutting the crossover pipe at the Y, capping the stub. Then the pass side was shortened and...

    1964 Plymouth Valiant-3'' Exhaust

I once calculated the weight difference between 2-1/2" and 3" and it was significant. Generally 400 hp is considered the crossovet point. If you're mostly on the street you wouldn't know the difference. (Unless you're one of those guys who likes to say mine's bigger than yours :-) ) There's...

    Move the motor

Spool or biscuit style mounts? I think TTI gives specific dimensions where the engine needs to be. Old biscuit mounts may take a set due to age, oil, etc. and replacing them with new mounts will restore the height. FWIW, I converted to the newer 73-76 spool type k member in my small block 68...

    Help pypes sma10s exhaust

Don't forget that Dodges generally have a longer wheelbase than Plymouths. (Dart vs. Barracuda) Don't be surprised if you need to cut 3" off the length. Usually the X ends up somewhere under the tailshaft? The universal pipe theory as mentioned is also a possibility. It may fit a Nova or...

    How to chase helicoiled threads?

I work for a NASA contractor and we use this "Keensert" style exclusively. For an airtight (or watertight) seal, they are installed with a little epoxy applied to the external threads.

    Stock sound still available?

I always thought the chrome tips contributed to the exhaust sound some how some way. My 69 'cuda 340 came with factory 2-1/4" pipes but then it gets funneled down through the tips. I have not measured the ID of those but I think the reduction in size makes the gases speed up so that the exhaust...

Mandrel vs crush bend; Worth it?

I was just looking at the Summit bends and straight pipe on line over the weekend and that is exactly what I am going to do. I can drive by the Summit store on the way home from work and pick everything up. Have MIG, will travel.

    No More Power Steering...

My 68 came with Hedmans and they have to be the absolute WORST for fitment. I went to a spool type K frame and manual steering several years ago. The headers were already in the car when I got it. It was a royal PITA just to get them out. The full size starter, PS box and the driver side header...

    Dougs headers question

Have not seen it recently (or looked for it) but you used to be able to buy exhaust pipe sealer at auto parts stores. From what I remember it was in a tube and you slathered it onto the male pipe and then inserted it into the female pipe. It would then harden up and seal the joint. It didn't...

    Shimming Engine for Header Clearance

I was helping a friend install Hooker Supercomps in a 69 Torino. Multiple interference problems. You didn't say if yours is collector or primary tube interference but one of the things I did out of desperation was after they were bolted to the heads, I put a floor jack handle through the...

    Header Help

I am helping (doing and teaching) a young friend with his 69 Torino GT. The body looks excellent but as soon as the hood was opened, YUCK! Anyway I talked him into pulling the 351W so I could paint the engine bay. $%&^#@* hot rodder couldn't leave well enough alone and he went out and bought...

Pics of tail pipes under a 340 67,8,9 Barracuda

One more thing to clutter it up a bit....the 67 fuel tanks mount with a single strap that goes under the tank side-to-side. The 68-69 tanks have double straps that go front-to-rear. Seems to me I remember that the 67 single cross strap creates problems when adding a passenger side pipe.

    Exhaust end studs in head

About 5 yrs a o or so, I took my SB cuda out in the early spring. While (ahem) blowing the carbon out of the engine, there was a funny noise and I started to see steam escaping from under the hood. Luckily I wasn't very far from home so I got it back in the garage w/o ia problem. Turns out the...

Ideas for rear exhaust route w/ Spring relocation ??

I've seen a 67 cuda that was mini-tubbed w/ the 3" spring relocation. The owner actually had a new gas tank sectioned to make it narrower and had the folding rear seat sectioned/reupholstered so it still functioned. Narrowing the gas tank gave her enough room to run pipes alongside the tank...
