    Oil pump drive shaft question

The same thing 90% of everyone else has... Well guys, I dropped the motor off at a machine shop today and he's going to install a new bushing for me for a few bucks. Thanks to EVERYONE for your input and help, I appreciate everything you guys have offered up with this matter. Enjoy your...

    Oil pump drive shaft question

All good advice, I guess this machine shop is going to take care of it for me, not over until it's done though.

    Oil pump drive shaft question

Thanks for the input! My dad told me the same thing about running a 31/64 bit through it. Now, you guys pressed the bushing onto the intermediate shaft, before installing it in the motor? How exactly does this address the problem? Because the shaft binding inside the bushing is the problem...

    Oil pump drive shaft question

I was thinking that myself, about .002" over. You're doing this with the bushing out, before install? Because I had a similar idea about doing this using my drill press with some ultra fine grit paper.

    Oil pump drive shaft question

No, both are removed as this is a new build. I was reading a thread here.. http://ramchargercentral.com/vehicle-help/dist-gear-replacement/ Where they suggest driving an old shaft through the bushing to size it, they also suggest getting a bushing from NAPA because they don't need to be...

    Oil pump drive shaft question

If I could figure out how it works exactly, and get the final ID/OD rough specs, I'd be in business. From the pictures, I can't tell if it's a solid piece moved only by the nut, or if the inner shaft travels through the larger outer by means of turning that hex headed top piece. Although, the...

    Oil pump drive shaft question

So, does anyone actually have this Miller tool? Or the dimensions of one at least? I'm pretty sure I can fabricate one myself, I really just need to know the ending ID and OD of the bushing after install. I don't know many engine shops around here well enough the borrow or rent anything.

Thanks, but no thanks. Been there, done that, needed a challenge.

    Oil pump drive shaft question

Holy smokes, that sounds pricey as all hell. I made a similar rig to pull the old bushing out, which worked fine. Then I drove the new bushing in easily enough with a wooden dowel and a light hammer. Is there any shadetree way to burnish the new bushing without spending a friggin fortune on a...

    Oil pump drive shaft question

I know this as been asked already and I've read all the responses, but I just need confirmation to go along with what I think I need to do next... On my 360 build, I installed a new brass bushing and went to install the oil pump drive shaft. It didn't drop in, so I gave a few taps with a...

Great. More parts I'll have to dig up.

    /6 to 360 conversion brackets

I've got a decent chrome pan on mine, but it's a standard size. If it's not going to work, I'd like to know before I button the motor up only to have to tear it apart later.

    /6 to 360 conversion brackets

The instructions were talking about needing a low profile oil pan and V-8 car steering linkage. Have you run into pan clearance issues?

    /6 to 360 conversion brackets

Anybody have any pointers on what will make the install smoother? I've already read great things about the hardware and install itself, but I'm wondering if there's any tips that aren't listed on the accompanying paperwork. Thanks!

    Welch Plug

So I bought a freeze plug kit from Summit for my 360 that's getting built and I realized that the welch plug (The dish shaped one, at the back of the camshaft) that came with the kit has gone awol. After 2 hours of tearing the garage apart looking for it, I have run out of options. The local...

    Grease

Damn. Well, the motor is going to be a resident of the stand at least until June or July. One of my 4.0's has 270K on it now with no real issues, is straight white lithium really that bad? Especially between the bearings and caps?:pale:

    Grease

As I was assembling the bottom end of my 360 last Saturday, and my cousin comes over and starts pitchin a fit about using white lithium grease to assemble the lower end, (Mains and rod bearings). Especially about putting the stuff on both sides of the bearing during install inside and out. I've...

    Thoughts?

First off, for Fish: The 7 1/4 is just what's in it. It's not what I plan on keeping in there, I'd like to find a 8 3/4, but they're hard to come by around here for a resonable price. Not to change the subject, but any help on locating a good rear for my app, would be appreciated. As for the...

    Thoughts?

Car Weight: Is whatever the factory weight of a '69 Dart GT is, I'm guessing in the 2700-3200lb range... Rear Gears: They're the standard gears that came with the GT package I guess, it has a 7 1/4" Rear, with the 273 and a TF 904. Transmission: Is the TF 904, I do have a A999 lying around...

360LA Block, .060" Over, Magnum heads Looking to build a respectable street motor, good for mostly cruising and the occasional stop light jump. Camshaft Recommendations? I was leaning towards Lunati's Voodoo, but I thought I'd get some feedback. Also, doing the LA to Magnum Head...
