I've done it both ways with sealant and without with no problems either way. Just make sure its clean and use the lock washers under the nuts and you should be fine

I have seen them in all configurations as Daliant above says BUT they have always had a centering hole /mark for the centerline of the crankshaft and I have drilled them and had my machine shop drill them so either way you can use this crank with out cutting off the snout of the tranny (bad idea)

my opinion is for a street driven car with auto a 3.91 will burn the tires off the thing and still be able to run 80 on the hiway with out any problem.Never did like 3:23 or 3:55 for a performance car gearing ...more like something a salesman would want ....LOL Gas mileage will drop about 2-4...

usually the collars get destroyed when taking off the old bearing. Machine shops usually cut them to save time . All the bearing kits I have ever bought have new collars in them already (never bought just the bearings before) As for the foam gasket my 68 service manual shows one on both sides...

also make sure you have the correct t/o bearing collar the short one will cause you lots of adjustment problems if you should need the long collar
