Manual valve body 46re 3rd gear issues :(

Correct! 46RE that is converted to a full manual valve body. For lockup and overdrive you have a switch that grounds the solenoids. I used a transgo shift kit: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/trg-tfod-3 Works well. I drilled out the holes in the seperator plate to big so now the 2nd gear...

    727/46re geartrain endplay to tight

    Moser vs Strange

I use moser 9" shafts in my Jeep Wrangler with 4.56 gearing and a detroit locker. Small block mopar 360 that is a mild build. I spin 39.5" tires that are 13.5" wide on beadlock steel wheels. Thats over 150lbs per tire. I have never broken a shaft bouncing the rear in 4 low. I even air down to 2 psi.

    727/46re geartrain endplay to tight

I believe thats what it is called. You assemble the planets on the shaft with all the thrust washers, and install the C-clip. Flip it all over and have the sun shell on the table, and then you put a feeler gauge between the very bottom sun gear and ensure there is proper play. Well I can't...
