I hear you.
2020 wasnt good to Anyone.
Hoping the best for you.
I have a new project car, and a pile of parts in my Closet.
Looking forward to 2021.
Happy New Year
It would surprise everyone......
By my math.....(and I dont claim to be any kind of mathematician)
235 x 1=
235 x 2 = 470 at 14psi
235 x 4 = 940 at 28psi
180 x 1=
180 x 2= 360 at 14psi
180 x 4= 720 at 28psi
Either 273 falls right into the range of a GT45 or s475.
And a 273 can make More NA...
I want to see a 273 (any year, 9:1 or 10.5:1) Stock Bottom End....get a 70mm turbo installed....and turned 6500 with 7, 14, 21, 28psi.....and prove what exactly one can Take, and what breaks first.
The typical RN12YC Champion converts to a NGK BPR6ES......I was using a hotter
NGK GR5.
I expected to gain 200hp.....so 4 heat ranges colder (to be safe)......
I could have used BPR7ES, or BR8ES, but....
There is no BPR9ES.....at that point the correct plug is the 5671-9 copper.
Let's not conversate on this thread....
But agree that for every 50hp above stock, 1 heat range colder spark plug is "recommended".....like nitrous/timing.
Well, I found the NGK GR5s to be the root cause of it.......
I swapped the entire turbo setup onto a 318 and installed NGK 5671-9 plugs gapped at .028" in it and had no further issues, even up as high as 14psi on pump gas.
Hope your running a Cold Spark plug like a NGK 5671-9....
I popped a headgasket and piston on my 360 real quick because I forgot to swap in Colder plugs before the first test drive.
Badass. Good job.
I considered the same path, exactly., and who knows...I may end up pursuing it Again.
I'm building another SB v8 turbo setup, this time on a 67 Fastback Barracuda.
The best advise comes from someone who has already done it.....ME.
9:1 Compression
Cold heat range spark plugs
50mm wastegate
7psi
And ease into it......
Watch you wideband gauge
Anything Leaner than 12:1 under WoT back out of it, increase jetting.
There is No cheap method if you care about...
My setup fits under my stock hood, and has power steering.
There is no aftermerket Manufacturer of Bolt on Turbo kits for Mopar A-Body.....so I built my own.
