    Holley Street Avenger on 408 / 416

I have two brand new 670s i am using. They seem to be jetted pretty lean out of the box. The one I had working well but it was pretty rich ran between 10-1 and 12-1 a/f ratio. Tried leaning it out for better mileage and just couldn't get rid of the off idle stumble even with some huge squirters...

holley 670 street avenger jetting questions

Anyone have experience with the avenger series of carbs? not on a mopar but looking for advice. ford 351 Cleveland 4 barrel heads (which essentially have big block sized ports) cams like 550 lift, eddy intake i forget which one exactly. Basically just simple bolt ons. It sat for a while but...

    hard hot starts?

If I drive around for a half hour or longer and get the car good and hot, then shut it off and go into 7/11 or something and come back out I have to hold the throttle open a bit and it takes a few seconds to start. It smells like gas when I shut it off too. Its an eddy 600 cfm. Could my floats...

    Portable Air/Fuel gauge?

You should be able to rig any wideband to work in the tailpipe and can probably just use aligator clips for power/ground. Just keep in mind all the way at the back you will get some lag in your data and if you have exhaust leaks it can throw it off a bit. Still would probably work decent for...

    What Is Good Gas Mileage?

I've got a 318 with stock 360 small valve heads, 340 cam, headers,torker340 intake and eddy 600 cfm. It gets pretty good gas mileage. The low compression motor will want more timing than a higher compression motor.

Manifold heat cross over physics and benifits

carb manifolds vs efi manifolds are too different beast. most plastic manifolds I see are efi. I think for a carb you need heat to keep the fuel atomized. I like to keep the exhaust crossover and use a 195 thermostat if I intend to get maximum mpgs with the motor. If you want power drop in a 160...

    Fuel line replacement rant!

I had similar issues with my brake lines, ordered them from inline tube. they fit okay but not great. Next time ill just make my own damn lines. But you can get your brake lines to work. if it has the wrong fitting on the end just cut the end off get the rite fitting and flare the end. you...

    Velocity stack custom filter

Might be restrictive depending on the motor. Another thing I might worry about its the bottom rubber coming unglued and getting sucked in the engine. Id just make a grate to go under the filter, better safe than sorry rite?

    LD4B Ports

FWIW, I have an LD4B with 340/360 sized ports. Not sure what the rhyme or reason is here but I have one.

    Thermoquad vs Edelbrock

Might just need a rebuild. Could be Shot needle and seat leaking causing a flooding condition at idle and a shot accel pump for dead stop acceleration. Either way, it's not too hard to take a carb off and put it on. As long as you keep the old one you aren't hurting the cars value. Keep in...

    Fast ez efi

idle in between 13:1 to 14.7:1 cruise shoot for 14.7:1 This system doesn't give you access to fuel tables does it? If not shoot for 14.7:1 for now. WOT for naturally aspirated shoot for 12:1 to 13.1 Might be able to go a bit leaner but this is a good safe zone. Forced induction will...

opinions needed regarding available EFI for a small block

Megasquirt is GREAT but, do your research before pulling the trigger. It can be a bit hard to set everything up for some people. I think the chevy tbi is promising for a cheap simple efi conversion. If you don't know much about efi, don't want to learn and you have plenty of cash get...

    Spectre cold air intake

I find it interesting that on spectre's website for the 4 barrel air cleaners it says nowhere "cold air" but, then on the summit website they are all listed as "cold air" makes me think summit messed that one up. :banghead: As for it being chinese, well what isn't nowadays? I bought my dad...

My first 2bbl to 4bbl swap.. scratching my head..

some intakes have provisions for the a/c bracket. My LD4B did. I did have to grind the bracket slightly so it fit better but that was no big deal. I am a cheap SOB so i just did cutting and welding to get the kickdown linkage and throttle cable to work. should be a do-able swap over a...

    Drilling the throttle plates

Just for ***** N giggles how about you try the other vacuum nipple on the carb? I read somewhere that one comes in at idle and one doesn't. might not do the trick but worth a shot.

How to fill up without getting it on the damn car?

No problems with mine overfilling, even if someone from the station pumps it. But when they pump it they never shake it when its done and it dribbles on the side.

    1 or 2 carbs

i think duals will work if you run a progressive setup. But for performance a single will outperform it any day of the week from what i understand. But duals just has that cool factor to it.

    Six pack on 318

I think if you make the motor rev high it will work out okay. Promax makes some nice stuff to help dial it in too. I think it would be cool because not alot of people put that on a little 318. Its rather expensive but alot of people are hurting for money right now so you might find some deals...
