I don't know why it has been starting. Did your new underhood harness come ready for electronic ignition and how did wire that dist.

With no ballast,Yes. Then you have power on run and start. If you have it still in the car,check for power at coil with key on and at start.

Just get a hold of cracked back and put some headlight relays in. Crackedback headlight relay kit - awesome!

Just jumper it straight across top to top and bottom to bottom.

Just start it and hold the switch from coming back all the way if it stays running. You need an ignition switch...

Sounds like you have a bad ground.Need a good ground from battery to body and ground to motor,would not hurt to add a ground strap motor to body.

Cliff that is your starter relay and the brown wire powers the coil according to this wiring diagram closest I can get with my software is 1983....

I would believe one of your brake light bulbs is in backwards...Pull both bulbs and see what happens...or one of the bulb sockets to your brake light bulb is messed up !! It is where I would start...

What year ? Fusible link at starter relay or bulk head connector.I had the same problem on my 67 dart and I bypassed my amp gauge. Read this part 1 and 2 http://www.madelectrical.com/electricaltech/amp-gauges.shtml Not to say it is not the ignition switch.I would check the bulk head connector first.

I agree,and since it is not.The turn signal bulbs are dual filament bulbs and if put in backwards will feed the park light and side marker light causing them to blink.

If one of your turn signal bulbs either in the front or back is in wrong it will make your side markers blink. Turn your lights on and turn your blinkers on and start pulling turn signal bulbs till the side markers stop blinking. I have seen bulb sockets shorted as well,but I bet one of your...
