    Hog ring plier recommendation

I second this! Heck I've used zipties in place of hog rings also!

My bench seats a mystery ??

Here is my interior....just for reference. It's a '74 model. The front was redone with Legendary and the rear is original. For what ever reason...age I guess, the inserts in the rear seat seem just a wee bit darker than the border compared to the fronts.

    window felts/fuzzies

Ok, I don't want to damage mine. Trying to reuse them. Still soft/pliable. I have identified where the clips are. When I get time I will try to reach into the door with the glass rolled all the way up and see if I can pry (don't know if there is enough room yet) on the clips from the back side...

    window felts/fuzzies

I am prepping my '70 Duster for paint and want to remove the outer window felts. Can these be removed with the side door glass in place? From what I can tell they have a hook-on type fastener and it looks like there is just a bit of play, side to side, regarding the glass that may make this...

    Custom package tray

Check out what trimparts made for my '70 Duster. They used a paper template that I provided for measurements and I chose "sky blue" to match the floor carpet. Fits perfect! and the color blends well with the metallic blue interior.

1970 Duster interior fix up/ Cali cars are great!

Thanks Guys!!! Yep its a 96K mile 225 slant 6 which runs great and 7 1/4 rear....can't have it all, lol. It does have power steering and the manual 10" drum brakes seem/feel much more capable than the 9" drums on my Valiant. I do plan to switch them for a set of the Kelsey Hayes 4 piston disc's...

1970 Duster interior fix up/ Cali cars are great!

I found this '70 Duster in California and brought it to Ohio about 7 years ago. Finally getting around to fixing the interior. Big plans such as bucket seats with upgraded seat skins and 4 speed conversion were halted so that I could see this project getting somewhere. It's a sympathetic resto...

location of control for left mirror

Dang, I hope mine doesn't look like that..lol I used the half way point from edge of the plastic emblem to the door edge and the mid way point of the height of the emblem for my drilling point. Hope that made sense. I didn't go 7/8" either. I used a step drill and kept test fitting until the...

Demon 72 armrest fits Dart Sport 73

No the '72 is different from the '73. If I recall correctly I think the rear arm rests in a Dodge Omni or Plymouth Horizon would work in your '73 Dart sport...worth a look! You could color match to suit the restoration.

    '70 Duster headrest/seat hinge

Thanks, I burned up 40hrs of vacation to do this and a whole bunch more on the car. It was a good vacation!

    '70 Duster headrest/seat hinge

The glue really helped to firm up the problem area and you can slightly notice the foam was separating and causing a bulge near the left post if you look at it head on but side profile has been restored to look original. I made sure to wipe off all contaminants really good and then applied B7...

location of control for left mirror

I added the remote hole and installed it. I also isolated the cables to allow no interference with the window. Oldmanmopar was helpful also, thankyou! Looks factory!

location of control for left mirror

I am working on my '70 Duster and want to install the remote control for my left side view mirror. Can someone please take measurements of it's proper location. I believe the hole should be 7/8". Thankyou! Don't pay any attention to the present hole that the remote and cables are poking...

    '70 Duster headrest/seat hinge

This headrest had a foam separation problem near one of the posts (right post in pic). I used a heat gun to help massage/stretch the vinyl back to it's original shape....hoping that the chrome strip would make a nice straight run in that area instead of the S-curve which developed over the last...

Thankyou! How long did you wait before clear coating? Had good weather, thankfully, low 80's. This paint dries fast too.

Chrome strip is close to original but no where near the original quality. This aftermarket chrome strip has a slightly shorter profile than the originals but it looks good!

    '70 Duster headrest/seat hinge

I should put/start this in a restoration thread but it's just a few pics to share. Here is brand new reproduction seat hinge covers. SEM prep spray and Herb's interior paint Important to take a razor blade, carefully, and remove the mold flash around the edges for a nice professional look. In...

    1970 Dart bench headrest removal...

This is from my '70 Duster. The mechanism or "catch" is on the left side of both front seats. My curiosity got the best of me today so while I was piddling with the car I did some investigating. I am recovering the seats anyway and wanted to get the headrests off so that I can restore them. So...

1970 Duster bench seat headrests removal

I read everything from tugging extremely hard from the lowest headrest position too sliding a thin piece of metal behind the headrest poles to release what ever it is that is holding them in. I have tried both to no avail :banghead:and don't feel comfortable trying to force them off. Mine are...

1970 Duster bench seat headrests removal

I can't remove them......working on the drivers side presently and it seems like the inboard rail is preventing the headrest from coming out. I tried fishing a long zip tie and an old oil dip stick along the back of the rail in an effort to help the rail release but no luck... I don't want to...

    New Carpet prep

I am getting ready to install new carpet in the Duster. I will use a insulation layer similar to dynamat. Does anyone know if there is an underlayment kit available or needed or will the dynamat serve this purpose as well? My carpet has the jute backing but I am curious about the underlayment...

basic am radio in '70 Duster

Is it easy to fix the tuner knob? I can turn the knob but the red dial will not sweep left or right to find stations. I was lucky that the preset button to the far right was set to a station on tht side and the dial was full left. I was able to ,very carefully, use the preset button to slowly...

    package tray cardboard

Thanks guys, I will look at it again. I already have the seats out of it. When I tug on the cardboard it seems to pull on the bottom of the headliner.....maybe it has just bonded to it over time...I will get a plastic scrapper and will try to separate where it touches the bottom of the headliner...

    package tray cardboard

I am working on my '70 Duster with standard interior. I'm replacing the faded cardboard covering on the package tray. Is the cardboard attached to the headliner? How did the factory do it, can anyone tell me? The original headliner is in great condition and this car is getting a...

Hey, thankyou. I'm glad you had experience with this as I'm sure I wasn't on to the next best idea since sliced bread , but you never know sometimes. I saw the repros and will end up getting these once the seats are recovered. Thxs a bunch!
