What 10 1/2 street/strip clutch are you using?

I have a stout 450 hp 383 Dart going together. I have 3.23 gears for normal street use and 4.56 gears with slicks for the strip. I need a good clutch without breaking the bank if possible. I have used the Mcleod long style before and that worked out pretty good. What are your suggestions...

    budget 383 build!

I might be able to save you a few bucks on your exhaust. I have a complete mandrel 2 1/2" exhaust system, including Hooker headers and turbo style mufflers, back to the bumper. If you are interested PM me. It was used on a 74 Duster for about 800 miles here in AZ. Nice shape. Let me...

I think so!! I just started the mockup last weekend. Cut the hole for the 4 speed tunnel, put in a bare block with Schmacher mounts. Mounted the Dana w/new springs. Started to set up the vertigate shifter. Mike

I agree with you that the 63 cars make better big block candidates than small blocks. I plan on using manifolds myself also. Mike

    Piston/Ring combo's for 10:1 383

I am building a 383 with the KB400 pistons with stock rods. I am using 84cc Stealth heads that have been prepped by Muscle Motors. I expect around 10.5 to 1 compression. I will be using an RPM intake with a 750 carb. I will initally fire it up with a .528 Mopar solid cam. Don't have it built yet...

Will this get me a prepped block?

If you decide to align hone then I would consider using studs for the mains. Just a thought... Mike

501 inch indy lil ez heads

501 inch indy lil ez heads

I think that the TTI header for the low deck A is only 1 3/4 tube and will fit power steering. The MadDog headers are 2 inch headers and don't fit power steering. It just depends on what you are ultimately planning on doing. Mike

    Early A Big Block Swap

66dartdriver. Just go with the hi po big block manifold to get your project on the road for the least amount of money. You can always upgrade at a later date. That's my plan anyway. Good luck. Mike

Anyone using dual quads 383 ??

I have one and plan on setting it up to look like factory. Even if it doesn't work as well as a good single carb, they are so easy to change that I want it for the occasional wow factory. If you spend enough on setting it up it may also work pretty well also. lol. I am putting it on a '64...
