Took duster out for a spin Vid inside

Yeah I lived right on Hillview, probably would remember the white '64 Dart GT along with my old blue lifted Blazer. I lived there for about 5 years and before that I lived in the apartments at the corner Winfield and Coleman.

Took duster out for a spin Vid inside

Sounds good. I know what you mean about the drone sound getting old. For years all my exhaust systems consisted of 3" pipes dumped right at the axle with two chamber flows. Long 45mph runs got noxious. It's odd to see my old stomping grounds on vid, haven't seen it in like 3 years.

    Favorite parts store/source

Honestly it's really going to depend on the crew behind the counter rather than the name on the door. I started working for All Parts Auto (California, San Jose, Morgan Hill, Gilroy area) after being a long time customer because the guys either knew what I was looking for or would work till they...

    Taylor Cable plug wire quality?

I have been running Taylor wires for years, never had any problems with them. In fact I used to sell them too when I worked at an auto parts store and never saw any come back defective either.

    Stupid things you have done

Went to prime a SB chevy without tightening the chuck on the drill all the way. Didn't notice until the drill starting spinning very easy, looked down to see metal shavings pouring down the distributor hole. Once did a cam swap and after tightening down the rockers went to fire the engine up...

    Fuel pump problems

I had a buddies jeep that kept cutting out at random. After verifying the pump would work after it died by jumping it I found one of the connectors for the relay was loose. As mentioned I would hook up a light to it and drive around to see if the power supply is good and constant.

I need help with my truck overheating

Yeah thats the issue because most times it will throw a code but I have seen a number of times where none where stored even after weeks of having a problem. Sometimes the limit for a reading might have such a huge range the sensor might be giving a value for an idle condition when it's actually...

I need help with my truck overheating

I would put it on a scanner and drive it under a good load to recreate the issue. Could be something like the fuel leaning out under load (this can cause the cat to heat up and melt or break apart). Plus the scan would tell you why it's leaning out, bad sensor, etc. It could be a quite a few...

Which type valve cover gaskets do you use, cork, rubber or paper type?????????

I have used both cork and rubber with good results. IMO the valve cover rails being nice and straight, clean, and proper torque on the bolts are the most important issues.

    National Gas Out Day

I honestly just don't drive that much anymore. Our daily driver is a 2007 that we bought new and it barely has over 22k on it. All those small trips to the store, etc. during a usual week really add up.

    Frame Connectors

It doesn't have to have the suspension loaded. Most cars will tend to sag in the middle over time so I place the jacks behind the front wheels and in front of the backs so the panel gaps are even.

How much $$$$ have you spent?

At this point somewhere around 20k. I have every single reciept, including the nickel and dime stuff most people forget about. You wouldn't think the little stuff like hose clamps and a tube of thread locker would add up to that much but it sure the heck does. Probably is going to run another...

    Old Holley Parts...what happened??

I remember a few years back when the avengers first came out and holley had some trouble with the finish flaking off but I haven't seen anything on those ones. Man that thing is cracking all the way around like an '80's clearcoat.

    sealing the pump

The good thick Fel-Pro blue gaskets I don't put anything on if the surfaces are good. Otherwise I put a thin coat on both sides. Also don't forget to put sealer on the long bolts if it's a small block. They are not blind holes. Plus good quality bolts too.

Who has built there own car.

If it can be done with hand tools I do it. Rebuilt my engine, transmission, steering, suspension, brakes, electrical, bodywork, interior. If I had access to a machine shop I would do that too. Of course about two years ago some of the stuff like the trans. I never even would have tried on my...

    MOLES . . . the enemy

A buddy of mine had them tearing up his front lawn. We ended up hooking a hose to the tailpipe of his circle track car and ran it into one of the holes a few feet in. Did the trick.
